Premise: The joys and travails of blue-collar friends are the focus of this kitchen-sink drama from Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, who were enjoying greater success at the time with their ABC series `thirtysomething.' This effort to evoke the grit of working-class life---one storyline had a Jewish gal falling for a mob underling---didn't wash with viewers or critics.
