Premise: A fondly remembered medical series about sensitive intern (and later resident) James Kildare and his mentor, Dr. Leonard Gillespie, at Blair General Hospital. One of the most popular shows of the 1960s, it made a national heartthrob of star Richard Chamberlain. The series, which debuted the same season as another wildly successful (if more brooding) TV doctor, `Ben Casey,' was based on a series of highly regarded B-movies of the 1940s.
