  • Lyrics, L Word and More Short Cuts | Today's News: Our Take | 12/6/2007
Fox has ordered 13 additional episodes of the musical game show Don’t Forget the Lyrics…. Season 5 of The L Word will premiere on its online social network, OurChart.com, for free a week before its Jan. 6 Showtime debut. The Dec. 30 online premiere will include behind-the-scenes footage…. Dancing with the Stars alum Vivica A. Fox has been booked on a drunken driving charge that could subject her to a $1,000 fine and a jail term as long as six months. Fox back on March 20 was stopped by CHiPs who said her Escalade was doing 80 mph and weaving on the Ventura Freeway. During her arrest, Fox famously accused one officer of being a "racist white cop." read more
  • Chaos Theory: Fox Reshuffles the Poststrike Deck | Roush Dispatch | 11/8/2007
As if the implications of the writers’ strike weren’t already giving us migraines, along comes Fox to make our heads explode with its latest incomprehensible schedule announcement, covering the strike-impacted midseason from January to April (consider most everything you read from here on subject to change). The first piece of bad news was expected: The seventh season of 24 is being postponed indefinitely, until Fox can ensure the entire season can run intact and uninterrupted. Who knows when that will be? Another blow: Fox is finally living up to its threat to move Bones to Fridays, effective Jan. 4, where it will be paired with repeats of House (the Fox equivalent of Law & Order, considering how often the hit medical drama will be peppered throughout the network’s new and unimproved lineup). To try to help make sense of it all, let’s look at the schedule night by night:Monday: With 24 out of the picture, the new big-ticket midseason item is now the... read more
  • Emmys: Bravo to Winners, Boo to Show | Roush Dispatch | 9/17/2007
And some people worried that getting Ryan Seacrest to host this year’s Emmy telecast was going to be the producers’ worst idea. That’s before we got a look at the set, an unwieldy and unappealing theater-in-the-round setup that looked more suitable for the new American Gladiators revival than for an awards show. The nominees, half of whom saw only the backs of the various presenters and performers, had a deer-in-the-headlights look every time Seacrest approached them or the cameras awkwardly cut to them. They appeared to be sitting in penalty boxes, not deluxe auditorium seats.Honestly, though, we poor schnooks at home were the ones suffering the penalty here: as in, confronted with one of the worst Emmy telecasts I can remember. As Emmy years go, I’m actually at peace with the majority of the winners, given who was and wasn’t nominated (and we’ve been over that frustrating ground plenty of times since the July nominations). Learning who won was a lot... read more

10:24: Seacrest is wearing a Tudors hand-me-down and making the obligatory gay joke. What can I say about his performance tonight? He did his thing, dawg, but it was just aight for me.10:25: Wayne Brady's looking all angular, setting up a Don't Forget the Lyrics gag in which Rainn Wilson and Kanye West compete to give out the next award. The category is "The Songs of Kanye West." The loser will have to retire from showbiz. Can't Ryan compete?10:27: Wayne disqualifies Kanye for saying "you" instead of "ya." This is falling flatter than Amy Winehouse's hair during an AquaNet shortage. Why is Kanye wearing sneakers to the Emmys? Are they orthopedic shoes?10:29: "I never win," Kanye mopily tells Rainn as they announce the reality-show nominees. Kanye's so short. And he doesn't look like he'd be such a sore loser, but from everything I've read, he is. Wonder if it's because he's so short.10:30: Amazing Race wins best reality show. Is that show still on? Obviously, the Academy never... read more

The Singing Bee Vs. Don't Forget the Lyrics
I think that Don't forget the lyrics is more of a trivia type show. I like that type of show better. You are trying to remember lyrics not trying to remember them better then someone else... read more
I LOVE this show!
I've watched both and feel that "Don't forget the Lyrics" is way better layed out, and entertaianing. I think "The Spelling Bee" is too busy with the dancing girls and semi-professional... read more
Wayne Deserves Better!
I was really excited Wayne Brady was doing this, I think his talent is profoundly under-rated. Unfortunately again it's underused in this "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" based show. This... read more
