Dirty Sexy Money Episode Recap: "The Family Lawyer" Season 2, Episode 2

Family intrigue, Letitia fainting, Brian getting in trouble with the law, Jeremy getting a real shock regarding his new "love" interest, all this, and Kenny G! Things are not looking particularly peachy for the Darlings after Ellen's death, and the matriarch's arrest in the murder of Dutch George, but there's just so much juicy goodness in every bite of Dirty Sexy Money!

Letitia appears in an orange jail jumpsuit and her frailty breaks my heart in two. Even sadder, she is whisked out of the arraignment into a flurry of reporters, and she cries out, "I want to go home!" Paddy is accused of murdering his wife, and his heart-felt elegy to her, but secretly about his lost Carmelita, is beautiful. Nick is learning to accept the "Darling Curse" and taking on far more responsibility than his wife can bear. Jeremy finds Nola in a compromising position, but still can't get enough. Ah youth, they are so darned lucky.

At Tish's arraignment, Nick tells the judge that the bank has been called to deliver the bail for her and the Robert Palmer-esque gents file in like Deal or No Deal. I half expected Howie Mandel to jump out from behind the judge's bench.

Slimy self-serving Simon Elder makes me mad as a mad hatter! He's a lying, lying, liar. He gets Karen all riled up about sliding into the top position at Darling Enterprises and then when he helps to set her up for the fall, he's right there to hold her up. He's pitting her against Nick and playing both of them like quarter slot machines!

Nick hires an extremely successful lawyer to handle Letitia's case, but Tripp wants Nick to defend her and works tacitly with Brian to rid them of Douremian and get Nick in play. They also ask him to handle the decision for who will replace Tish as Vice Chair of DE. After much debate, Nick recommends his half-brother Brian.

Nola's apartment is ridiculous. She tells Jeremy she is a "superhero" and tells him no matter what happens, she really likes him and what they've shared is real. I knew at that moment she was the prosecutor in the Letitia Darling case. Sleeping with the enemy! Bad girl. But Jeremy is hooked. He has no shame! Nola tries to kick him to the curb, but neither one of them is able to obey that demand. He falls so easily. And no, Jeremy, you're not a handicap!

Karen has an MBA from Columbia? Will wonders never cease? How did she get there - Darling "charm"? But to stay there she must have some smarts. And as Nick reminds us she did run the Darling Foundation.

Not only is Nola the nasty prosecutor for Tish's case, but she also is mean as can be and sends cops to arrest Tish at Ellen's funeral. This turns into a brawl, complete with Tish fainting, Brian knocking out a "peace officer" and he and Nick getting arrested.

It was nice to have Brian back in full force. I've missed his charming, foul arrogance and self-righteous, self-deprecation. He believes he should have it all and nothing at all at the same time. I don't know how he does it, but it's a thing of beauty. It's Brian who finally talks Nick into defending Tish. He convinces Nick of her innocence stating the real killer is Tripp. I got the feeling that Brian was playing Nick, Tripp was playing Brian and Nick was just being played. Do you think Tripp killed Dutch?

When Tripp holds the press conference to tell everyone who the new vice chair will be, he throws all expectations out the window. Each of the Darling children thinks it is them, until Tripp announces that Nick will be Letitia's successor. Are you shocked by this, or is it just no big surprise?

Nick and Lisa's marriage seems to be teetering on the edge of the abyss; I wouldn't be heartbroken if it shattered. This new position of Nick's is not going to sit well with her. He's already playing footsies with the Darlings far too much of the time and if he accepts the position of running the company, she'll never see him. "Besides Tripp, we're family." His priorities are with the Darlings far more than the Georges.

Does anyone else think that Kenny G could stand to spend a little quality time at his local barber shop?

Great lines aplenty:

• "Someone looks cute on TV." "Yeah, you should see me in hi-def."
• "Forgiveness isn't amnesia."
• "What about Elton John? He'll play ‘Candle in the Wind' for anyone."
• "I don't care how many shoddy heiresses you've returned from the gnawing jaws of justice to the safety of their infinity pools..."
• "I can't believe you, we ask you one freaking thing" "I'm the guy who cleans your tickets, plans your funerals and calls Kenny G!"
• "No, you step away, or I'll have you working in a cross walk, Chubby!"
• "Why don't you bring it, donut hole?"
• "Come on, you're the darlingest Darling of them all."

DSM will not air next Wednesday due to the final presidential election, but will return on October 22.
