90210's New Teacher Hints How He'll Heat Up West Bev

This fall, there's not only a new class coming in at the new 90210's West Beverly High, there's also a brand new teacher, fresh out of college and ready to influence young minds. You with me here?The new teach on the scene is Ryan Matthews, played by Dirt's own Ryan Eggold. Now that Eggold's Farber Kauffman won't be returning to the air, he can focus his attention on the nubile newbies of West Bev. At Friday's STRIDE Gum's Ridiculously Long Lasting Celebration, Eggold talked to TVGuide.com about how things will play out for him in (and out) of the classroom. By Eggold's account, Mr. Matthews is "kind of a kid himself. A lot of options there." One of those "options" will play out in the pilot episode. "There is some tension between a student and myself," he said. The illicit intermingling, however, may not come to fruition: "I'm not sure where they're going to go with it," Eggold said. Dirt Nap: Courteney Cox's Series Is Canceled

Courteney Cox Arquette, akin to her Dirt alter ego, offered up some scoop at Sunday's "A Time for Heroes" Celebrity Carnival, benefiting the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation: Her FX series is folding. "It just got canceled," she shared when asked about the prospect of a Season 3 pickup. (Season 2 was cut short by the WGA strike.)Cox, however, seemed optimistic about the future. She and hubby David, with whom she produced Dirt, have their own shingle, and as such, "We’re developing all kinds of stuff right now," she said. Answer: Not sure if we should read anything into this, but Dirt's Ryan Eggold just got cast in the CW's 90210 update. Fingers crossed!

Jeers to Dirt for pushing the limits of ridiculousness. In the overheated FX serial's second-season opener, ruthless editrix Lucy Spiller (the wildly miscast Courteney Cox) survived her stabbing at the hands of a tabloid target, woke up from a coma... and immediately started running "Dirt Now" magazine again. Art Imitates Life as FX Digs Up More Dirt

Everyone was giving scoop at the season premiere of Courteney Cox's FX series, Dirt, on Thursday evening. According to the cast, viewers can expect more ripped-from-the-headlines plots and familiar celebrity characters this season, including one about a very publicly drunk male star — inspired by David Hasselhoff — and crazy antics from the Britney-inspired character "Sharlee Cates" (played by Ashley Johnson).Coexecutive producer and Cox hubby David Arquette — who directed an episode this season — told TV Guide that sometimes, real life imitates what happens on the show and not the other way around, as viewers may suspect."We want it to be current so we try to predict things before they happen," said Arquette. FX Enjoys Fewer Riches, Surfaces Less Dirt

FX has opted not to produce more episodes of Dirt and The Riches, both of which ceased production in December after completing only seven of their 13 ordered episodes. The decision to not finish up the seasons regardless of when the WGA strike ends was due to "economic reasons," FX says, "and does not affect the two series' chances for a third-season pickup."Dirt returns March 2 at 10 pm/ET, while The Riches' Season 2 launch will be announced soon. — Erin Fox read more

Danny Comden, whom a handful of you may remember from the short-lived 2003 ABC sitcom I'm with Her, has been recruited for a three-episode arc on FX's Dirt, playing a new love interest for Courteney Cox's tabloid queen Lucy Spiller. FX has announced a March 2 premiere for the second season of Courteney Cox Arquette's Dirt, which will air Sundays at 10. Though the tabloid-magazine workplace series had received a full 13-episode order, only seven shows got penned before the WGA work stoppage started. Nonetheless, since this isn't exactly 24 we're talking about here, FX has opted to go ahead and unspool the season. read more
