The Starter Wife by Matthew Rolston/USA Network Photo
USA has renewed The Starter Wife, thus enlightening me to the fact that miniseries even could be renewed. Debra Messing will return in the title role.... Per Reuters, on Nov. 14, the last in Garth Brooks' string of nine sold-out pre-retirement concerts will be simulcast from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri, to over 300 movie theaters.... Jenna Elfman and, like, half the creative team behind Dharma & Greg are suing 20th Century Fox for $15 million they claim they are owed in profit-participation payments.Wednesday's Today's News was written by Ben Katner.

Joe kissed Rebecca. When Rebecca first came into the picture I never thought Id be writing that sentence. I cant believe Joe. It just seems so, well, out of character. Although I guess we dont really know very much about him, to be honest. Hes a musician, he stays at home with the kids, he seems frustrated and bored at times, and his marriage to Sarah seems to have its problems. But basically all his on-screen time has involved his shared marital problems with Sarah, or, a few episodes back, his reaction to Paiges diabetes. So I guess we dont actually know much about Joe himself. But kissing his wifes newly discovered half sister definitely doesnt say very much about him as a person. And it seems especially creepy that it happened right after Rebecca told him about her much older ex-boyfriend. Was Joe taking that as a sign that shed be interested in him as well? Im not sure how Joe and Sarahs already troubled marriage...

Sure, Episode 3 of the Ausiello Report vodcast (as well as Mike's fresh TV Guide column) scooped that Jenna Elfman would be guesting on ABC's Brothers & Sisters. But wait, there's more: Dharma's own mom-in-law, Susan Sullivan, will appear in the same April 15 episode, playing... the mother of Elfman's character.Sullivan and Elfman will play Miranda Jones and pregnant Lizzie Jones-Baker, respectively, two members of the Walkers' lifelong nemesis family, as the two clans match wits in a night of board games. And here we thought Kitty was Clue-less.UPDATE: Speaking of hit ABC serials, Ausiello has exclusive, breaking scoop regarding the Grey's Anatomy spinoff. Check it out.

Question: Who cares about the Lost snub and Ellen Burstyn? The Emmys got a big one right this year: Leslie Jordan has made me howl in everything he's done, from Murphy Brown to Dharma & Greg. Kudos to the Academy for awarding him for his guest role on Will & Grace. To me, this makes up for nominating Kevin James.
Answer: To me, Kevin James' clowning falls under the same heading as Leslie Jordan's broad and often very funny shtick. Be that as it may, I have no gripe with Jordan winning the guest-performer Emmy. The only one of those guest-actor wins that made my jaw drop was Christian Clemenson (a fine actor in an over-the-top role) beating Michael J. Fox for Boston Legal ...

Jenna Elfman still believes in Dharma.
Hi-larious. That's the word coming out of Jenna Elfman's mouth, midconversation, as she picks up the phone for this TVGuide.com Q&A. What is the gifted comedienne in the midst of describing? That was the first topic at hand as we used the occasion of the DVD release of Dharma & Greg: Season One to chat up Elfman — fresh from Courting Alex's abbreviated run — about her sitcom hits, misses and lessons learned, the Dharma-

Jenna Elfman, Courting Alex
For its premiere last week, CBS' Courting Alex (Mondays at 9:30 pm/ET) drew 14.9 million samplers. It also saw seemingly just as many TV critics contend that the premise — Jenna Elfman's uptight lawyer finds unlikely sparks with Josh Randall's laid-back bar owner — is but a flipped version of Dharma & Greg, the statuesque comedienne's previous sitcom foray. Elfman, though, pooh-poohs such pigeonholing.
"I was doing a phone interview where they mentioned that, and I hadn't even thought about it, actually," the actress shares. "I hadn't thought this is anywhere near or opposite Dharma." Denoting several differences, she says, "Greg wasn't a workaholic [like Alex]. He wasn't a con

Question: Please help me. I seem to remember a show on TV called something like Chase. I think it was a police show. All I can remember is a German Shepherd police dog and a Plymouth police car. I am not exactly sure of the year. I think maybe 1970? Did such a show ever exist? Was it a series? Of course I was only a little kid back then, so maybe my mother spiked my Bosco and it never existed. Thanks.
Answer: If your mom was spiking your Bosco with anything it was plain old milk, as it should have been, Vincent. The police drama did indeed exist, albeit rather briefly, on NBC's schedule from September 1973 to August 1974.
Mitch Ryan (Dharma & Greg) starred as Capt. Chase Reddick, a cop whose unit tackled cases others in the L.A. Police Department couldn't handle. Under him was a team of specialists t
