Dexter Video: Will Dexter Kill Deb in Season 7?

Almost no one who has learned Dexter's secret has lived to tell about it. (See: Lila, Travis, Miguel Prado, etc.)

Now that Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) has learned her brother is a serial killer, could she be the next person to fall victim to his hobby on Dexter? The new trailer for the upcoming season seems to indicate that she really needs to watch her back.

Although she lets Dexter (Michael C. Hall) walk off a free man after he killed Travis (Colin Hanks), she's definitely starting to suspect that it wasn't just a one-time thing. But can she really accept that her brother is a full-blown serial killer? Judging by the punch Deb lays on Dex in the video, tensions are running high between the siblings. Add to that the similarities she sees between Dexter's church crime scene and that of the Ice Truck Killer's, and it's no wonder Dex is driven to take action against his sister. ADAM: I hear the season's second episode involves the murder of a high-profile and cutthroat divorce attorney. (Suspect No. 1: His secretary, who apparently was having an affair with the boss' wife!) But naturally, having Booth and Brennan observe some of the victim's clients whose relationships are falling apart will make them examine their own strained relationship. "[It's] at a time when Booth and Brennan are just coming back together after being separated so long," executive producer Stephen Nathan says. "It's a very difficult thing when you have just started a family and all of a sudden it's torn asunder. It will be an issue that exists between them."

Dexter: Now That Deb Knows, It's the Beginning of the End

Now that Deb knows her brother's big secret on Dexter — that Michael C. Hall's titular character is a serial-killing blood spatter analyst — it's the beginning of the end for the Showtime series.

At Monday's Television Critics Association fall TV previews, Hall reiterated what executive producer Sara Colleton told TVGuide.com earlier this summer: The eighth season of Dexter will be its last. (Earlier in the day, Showtime chief David Nevins insisted there was still a possibility of the series carrying on.)

Showtime finished its 2011-2012 season with nearly 22 million subscribers and 22 Emmy nominations, with five of those in the four leading acting categories. Much of that honor goes to freshman drama Homeland, which is the most-nominated series for the network.

After sneak-previewing trailers for two upcoming series -- Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan -- David Nevins, Showtime's president of entertainment addressed this season's farewells to The Big C and Weeds and teased what's coming up for Dexter and Homeland, both of which will return on Sept. 30.
