And boy is it ever!
Yowza! What is there to say about this show? "So much," is my response. From LaGuerta getting the axe from Captain Tom to Angel getting the axe from his wife... from the hooker getting it from the ITK to Debra, too. And the one getting hit the hardest is our old friend, Dexter. Poor guy. The ITK has gotten under his skin, forcing him all the way back to his earliest memory - the terrible day that his mother gets the axe, or, in this case, the chain saw.
They did a fantastic job unraveling the mystery on this week's show; I can hardly wait until next Sunday. The lovely Christmas theme and the gifts the ITK left for Dexter and the gang were really thoughtful, and so beautifully wrapped!
I was sad when Mariel broke Angel's heart (for a second time) in the hospital; talk about kicking a man when's he's down. The look on Dexter's face when he puts two and two together - the teeth mark in Angel's head and the fat lip on Rudy - was priceless. Hip, hip hooray, and we're on our way. Of course, Deb falling into the evil web was par for the course. Though, I must admit, the white roses leading to the white Christmas lights on the yacht was a romantic gesture, even if it did come from a known serial killer. The ITK had his moments of charm on this show. I found myself thinking of Master Rudy as going from
swarmily charming in a matter of moments.
When we saw Deb lying in Rudy's bed naked and face down, all I could think was, "Goodness, woman, eat something!" The ITK and his new fiancée are collectively thinner that Kate Moss.
Rita keeps finding her own way. I was so proud of her when she made the decision to bring the kids to the jail and force Paul to clear the slate with them. It was a beautiful moment. She was strong. Rita could easily just hate Paul, but she shows him compassion and gives her kids their dad back. I was really impressed.
More secrets about 10.3.73 resurface, but what else is there that we don't already know? Will it be revealed in the last ep of the season? Will everything be nicely wrapped up, or will they leave us dangling until next year? Will Doakes find out what Dexter does in his spare time? Will we find out that Harry was the original Dexter? Was he also a vigilante, as he taught his son to be? Wasn't there something about this in one of the earlier eps? These are the things I want to know.
Only one more episode left! What will we do with our Sunday nights?
