Every week I think, "How does this show keep getting better and better?" Maybe it's best not to know. It's the little things in life.
Lucky us, we start with another taste of Dexter's nasty flashback. The blood in Room 103 triggers Dexter's worse childhood memory. This is the one we glimpsed a piece of during the "therapy sessions" Dex had with the now-dead therapist. Then he is haunted by the memories when he is rifling through Paul's apartment. What happened that terrible day? I'm not sure I want to know, and after he returns to the scene of the crime, I am certain I don't want to know. All I know is, I think I was about as shook up as Dex was. It's not until Rudy comes to get his cell phone from Dexter that Rudy hands him the trigger key. Dexter is struggling to figure out what kind of power tool was used to make the blood stains on the walls of 103, and Rudy "suggests" a chain saw. In Dex's flashbacks with his mother, there is a chain saw and a lot of blood. It's driving me crazy; how does Rudy know all of this?
While Dexter's having flashbacks in the hallway of the hotel, Rita calls to tell him she's being charged with a Class 2 felony.... This is not Dexter's day. Vince Mazuko, on the other hand, is having a field day in the hotel room.
The return of Theo Cosby! Malcolm Jamal-Warner makes an appearance on tonight's show as Dexter's lawyer friend, commissioned to help Rita fight Paul.
Of course, Dexter says he will fix Rita's problem. Good, finally, he's going to rid this planet of the scourge that is Paul, but not according to the code of Harry. I suppose since Paul hasn't actually killed anyone, it would be wrong of Dexter to kill him. So, he finds a suitable alternative, also thanks to Harry. Dexter needed to find "proof of the inner monster. Harry would have insisted." And he does: the drugs, the gun... perfect. When Paul wakes up, boy is he gonna be pissed.
I sure hope the "porterhouses" Rudy and Dex feast on were not from his hooker victims. Blech.
Deb's having a conniption because Dexter won't "talk" to her. She doesn't like her boyfriend, Rudy, aka
the ITK, for those of you not paying any attention, bonding with her brother and wrongly assuming Dexter would tell him, a perfect stranger, anything. When she tries to seduce him, all he wants to know about is how Dexter reacted at the bloody crime scene.
Angel talking about Neil Diamond and "Kentucky Woman" just about killed me. Angel, you can take me to see The
Jazz Singer any day of the week. May I make just the slightest of suggestions? Keep the hat on. You're much sexier with the pimp hat.
I am enjoying the fact that the ITK is completely playing Dexter, and he doesn't even know it. The fact that Dex thinks the guy is trying to "chase me down the rabbit hole" is further evidence that he doesn't get it.
Finally, Doakes shows a nearly human side when he feigns concern about Deb's "home life." Of course, white roses make everything better. When the ITK played the "I love you" card, I just about lost my dinner. Chicks fall for that line like a rocket ship returning to Earth's atmosphere. Ick. You'd think since Rudy and Dex are best buds now, he would no longer require Deb's charming services. But he must have something else in store for the lovely Ms. Morgan.
Maria Laguerta was even enjoyable as she took the captain to task and announced new evidence in the ITK case. I was glad to see that she removed the headband for the press conference. That look was not winning her any votes of confidence.
Poor Angel. What a bleeder. Although, if Rudy was using that little handsaw thing from the office, I could see how he would bleed so much from one stab wound. OK, to all my experts out there: How does one little knife wound elicit so much blood?
I'm not sure I can wait until next week to watch the next episode, and with only two left, I'm not sure I want to watch it. Because as soon as that one is over, then we're down to one and then, you know what that means: no more
Dexter for another year. That totally bites.
