Desperate Housewives Episode Recap: "Give Me the Blame/Finishing the Hat" Season 8, Episode 22

We're finally here, folks: the end of our time on Desperate Housewives' Wisteria Lane. It has been eight long seasons of tragedy, tawdriness and tomfoolery, and it all comes down to this. But before we can kiss the ladies goodbye, there is still much left to resolve: Bree's on trial for the murder of Alejandro; Lynette and Tom Scavo are still separated; Julie Mayer is about to give birth; Renee and Ben's wedding is imminent; and Mrs. McCluskey's health has taken a turn for the worst. Desperate Housewives Episode Recap: "The People Will Hear" Season 8, Episode 21

As the penultimate episode of Desperate Housewives, this episode was more than a little disappointing. It seemed to largely serve as filler for whatever is going to happen in the two-hour finale without many substantial moments. Lynette saved Tom from being transferred to Mumbai and promptly broke up with his boss, but didn't tell Tom how she felt. Tom punched his boss when he went on and on about how difficult Lynette was and even split from Jane — a move in itself that felt a tiny bit anticlimactic — but didn't tell Lynette how he felt either. These are all minor complaints since at least it now seems like a sure thing that they will get back together, unlike earlier this season when it seemed it could go either way, but still.

Pre-trial hearings begin for Bree's murder trial, but, because this is Desperate Housewives, Bree is more concerned with flirting with her charming lawyer, Tripp, than staying out of jail. Tripp, as it turns out, could not be more different than Bree. He's sued the NRA three times, he talks about prostitutes and sex casually and uses the word "sucks" over lunch — how absurd! Although Bree is a "champion of conservative values," Tripp learns about Bree's slutty phase when the prosecution lists many of... read more
