Desperate Housewives Episode Recap: "Truly Content" Season 7, Episode 3

On Sunday's episode of Desperate Housewives, Susan discovers that she has some serious competition in the sexy-lady-cleaning-house-on-webcam business. Gaby and Carlos take separate paths to solve Juanita's mystery. Tom's postpartum depression becomes even more hilarious when his doctor prescribes a particular treatment. Meanwhile, once Renee finds out that Bree has a thing for younger men, she invites her to go clubbing with her, where much pearl-clutching ensues.

LYNETTE and TOM

After she mocked Tom's postpartum depression last week, Lynette chides him for wanting to take anti-anxiety medication. Instead, she suggests a holistic doctor who has cured Susan's headaches. This was a bad idea, because the Dr. Feelgood in question prescribes medical marijuana. Tom has never smoked pot (dubious character detail!) but he's kind of excited for it — what with the headphones and the cool shades and the munchies. Lynette doesn't want her kids seeing their dad stoned, so she replaces the pot with oregano to teach him that he doesn't need medication of any sort to feel better.

After he gets "wasted," he has a moment of clarity about his life and how lucky he is. He is happy again. (That was easy.) Lynette comes clean about her deception, adding an "I told you so" for good measure. Obviously, Tom isn't pleased about getting outfoxed by his wife yet again. "Why don't you snort some baking powder?" Lynette cracks. "Maybe you'll feel better."

PAUL

The ladies throw some muffins at Paul's new wife, Beth, and invite her to play poker. They need dirt on this lady, and pronto. Paul warns her that the Wisteria ladies are really nosy and advises her to be careful what she reveals. But Beth is kind of a dolt, so a couple of chardonnays later, she's spilling her guts, her really boring guts. She reveals that when Paul was incarcerated, they joked that Paul was "a real ladykiller," but Beth is the only one laughing at the table.

Later, she corners Mrs. McCluskey about the ladies' odd behavior and learns about Paul's suspected involvement in the death of Martha Huber. Although Paul reassures her that he's an innocent man, Beth seems even more on edge.

GABY and CARLOS

A devastated Gaby and Carlos sign legal papers at the hospital that could essentially wrap up the switched-baby storyline lickety-split. The Solises agree not to sue the hospital, which in turn agrees not to contact the other family.

But of course that's not how it's all going to end. At the mall, Gaby is tortured, improbably, by the dozens of 8-year-old Latinas, and wonders wordlessly whether any of them is her daughter. She decides then and there to hire Bob to find the family, without telling Carlos.

Hey, guess what? He finds out! He's worried because by contacting the family, it gives them legal rights to Juanita, so he tells Gaby that if they lose Juanita because of her carelessness, he'll leave her.

BREE

"I hear you're getting divorced," Renee says as she barges into Bree's house. She thinks Wisteria Lane's two single ladies should go "clubbing" together. Bree is hesitant, but after learning that Keith has a girlfriend, she puts on her nighttime sweater set — with "shiny buttons" — and is ready to go. "Where's your closet?" Renee asks, and a makeover ensues.

At the club, Renee declares the crowd a bust, even invoking the Jersey Shore term "grenades" to describe the evening's male offerings. But then she sees Keith at the end of the bar and her interest is renewed. Bree warns her that he has a girlfriend, but the bartender helpfully informs Bree that Keith was dumped today.

Bree heads into the ladies' to readjust (read: turn around) her dress with the plunging back and voilà, serious cleavage! But it's too late. Renee has already convinced Keith to go home with her.

Bree admits her jealousy to herself and does the only thing she can do in this situation: She takes a 7-iron to her sprinkler heads and calls Keith to help her out of this self-induced jam. It works for the moment, but Renee — who is way overdressed for this street — sees right through it. So it's on like Donkey Kong between these two.

SUSAN

On the underdressed side, Susan is becoming quite the webcam star, even perfecting a signature move that involves vacuuming off a flimsy apron. Her hard work pays off, and she's given a fat bonus check for attracting the most visitors to the site for the month.

Her success is short-lived though, after she catches Stacy Strauss (guest star Rebecca Creskoff, who you might recognize from Mad Men and Hung) copying her moves. It seems Stacy used to be the one getting those bonus checks before Susan showed up, and she's playing dirty to get back on top. (Beware, the following mostly innocent descriptions will be lousy with double entendres.)

Susan decides that Stacy needs to be even dirtier, so she steals her spare key from Maxine, sneaks into her apartment and rigs her vacuum cleaner to blow instead of suck. (See what I mean?) When her webcam show goes up in a cloud of dust bunnies, Stacy, fake tarantula eyelashes hilariously frosted with filth, confronts Susan — while she's doing a show — and the two wrestle it out. In lingerie. For paying customers.

Maxine sees the girls grappling on cam and runs to Susan's apartment ... to tell them to center themselves on camera. When she learns it isn't a bit, she yells at Stacy for interrupting Susan's show, and forces her to apologize.

Later, in the laundry room, Susan learns that she and Stacy have a lot in common. She's doing webcam shows so she can save up to move back to Virginia. So they call an uneasy truce, which becomes even uneasier when Susan learns that Stacy has been saving to move for six years. Will Susan and Mike realistically be able to save enough to move back to Wisteria Lane by January? (Well, it is television.)

What did you think of "Truly Content"? Was Lynette right to switch Tom's stash? What do you think Beth's secret is? Are you excited for a Bree-Renee showdown? Are you with Gaby that we need to meet her biological daughter? And how much longer can Susan live off the street without it becoming really annoying?

Premise: Following her suicide, Mary Alice Young keeps tabs on friends and family she left behind on bucolic suburban Wisteria Lane. But this being a prime-time soap (if a tongue-in-cheek one), they all harbor a sordid secret or two. Created by writer-producer Marc Cherry (a 'Golden Girls' alum), 'Housewives' was an instant hit and a frequent contender on Emmy night .
