NBC has unveiled the cast for Celebrity Cooking Showdown, premiering April 17. Working the stoves in tandem with the likes of Wolfgang Puck and Cat Cora will be supermodel Naomi Campbell, Days of our Lives' Alison Sweeney, country crooner Big Kenny, Tom Arnold, the Kansas City Chiefs' Tony Gonzales, rapper Ja Rule, volleyball stunner Gabrielle Reese and Miss USA 2005, Chelsea Cooley. Um, do any of those ladies even eat?
Here's some cheerier news for Young and the Restless fans: Starting on April 24, SoapNet will begin airing same-day reruns of the No. 1 daytime sudser. That's quite a coup for my fave cable channel, which also carries same-day reruns of the three ABC soaps and NBC's Days of our Lives.
General Hospital's Tamara Braun (ex-Carly) isn't the only soap-opera sexpot dropping by ABC's sitcom Freddie. Next up, Krista Allen (ex-Billie, Days of our Lives) is romanced by Freddie Prinze Jr. in an upcoming episode entitled "Freddie and the Hot Mom." Look for Allen — who, naturally, plays the hot mom in question — to air on March 29.
My fave French Creole psychic friend is coming home to Days of our Lives! Starting on March 30, Tanya Boyd brings the long-absent Celeste back to Salem for about a month. "Celeste is here to stop Tek from destroying her daughter Lexie's marriage to Abe," Boyd reveals to TVGuide.com. "I start off with a major confrontation between Celeste and Tek. Then in the next scene, she's doing her tarot cards again — and she sees something that doesn't look good. 'Oh, no! Mon dieu!'"
Celeste's campy presence — she's all about big hats, colorful wigs and ominous predictions delivered in a hammy accent — has been missed. "It's funny," Boyd says. "When I came back, the actors were all asking me, 'Am I getting killed? Am I dying?' Usually when Celeste pops up, there's some gloom and doom getting ready to happen. Remember, she knew before anybody else when the Salem Stalker was going to strike, but nobody ever listens to her. You know how it is."
Days of our Lives and General Hospital are now officially confirming what TVGuide.com told you last week: Soap vet John Ingle has left his gig as Days' Mickey Horton to reprise his signature role as GH's crusty patriarch, Edward Quartermaine.
"We were so fortunate that John Ingle was available to us at a time when we were desperate to fill story and were dealing with the departure of [Mickey's original portrayer] John Clarke," says Days chief Ken Corday. "We have loved having [Ingle] here, both professionally and personally, but also know a big part of his heart and history is with General Hospital. Our loss is certainly GH’s gain, and we wish John nothing but continued success. He will truly be missed!"
McKenzie Westmore, Passions and Brody Hutzler, Days of our Lives
As TVGuide.com reported first, Days of our Lives hustler Brody Hutzler plays a sexy masseur on NBC's Las Vegas tonight at 9 pm/ET. His Days character, Patrick, is also poised to split up supercouple Bo and Hope (Peter Reckell, Kristian Alfonso). Here's what Brody has to say about all his skirt-chasing shenanigans....
TVGuide.com: So you and Hope just happened to end up on the same hot, sultry Caribbean isle.
Brody Hutzler: I need to get away, so I head off to a place I own on Morgan Island, but my house has accidentally been rented out to Hope. Whatever. So I get to my house and there she is. We have to stay there together.
TVGuide.com: Sounds like a classically cheesy Days coincidence.
Young and the Restless heartthrob Don Diamont (Brad) ranks No. 1 on the "100 Sexiest Soap Hunks of All Time" list compiled by the Shrine to the Soap Hunks (www.soaphunks.net). Chock-full of drool-worthy eye candy, this frothy fan site rates suds actors based on face, body, overall sex appeal and how many years they've worked in daytime. (It's the only place in showbiz where age is actually an advantage!) While the judges' scoring is sometimes questionable — Days of our Lives' Kevin Spirtas (Craig) is hotter than Jensen Ackles (ex-Eric)?! — this soapy shrine is still my preferred place of worship.
General Hospital's Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) has been cast on a new prime-time soap.... GH is seeking a young hottie to play Lulu's (Julie Marie Berman) love interest.... GH's bed-headed doctor Jason Thompson (Patrick) is reportedly dating Charmed vixen Alyssa Milano.... There may be a double recast in the works on Bold and the Beautiful.... Soap vet John Ingle has left Days of our Lives to check back into GH.... Passions' Heidi Mueller (Kay) has broken off her engagement.... Young and the Restless
Former Days of our Lives star Victor Alfieri is heading back to daytime! On April 19 the Italian stallion lands on NBC's other soap, Passions, during the upcoming Roman mystery you first read about here. Alfieri's character, Gianni, is said to be a lothario with a taste for pretty heirheads like Fancy Crane (Emily Harper). Sounds like Gianni's cut from the same scummy mold as Franco Kelly, the Days gigolo Alfieri played from 1996 to 1998. If you recall, Sami faced lethal injection for Franco's murder until the real shooter, Lucas, saved her from the needle.
Meanwhile, Alfieri guest-stars on CSI: Miami
on March 6 as a blackmailing pimp who meets an unpleasant end. Um, does anyone else sense a career trend here?
Scoop! Actually, make that a double scoop: Days of our Lives dude Bryan Dattilo (Lucas) guest-stars on CSI: NY on March 8. His episode — entitled "Cool Hunter" — features Dattilo playing an in-your-face defense lawyer. As the World Turns alum Brian Bloom (ex-Dusty) also makes a cameo as a drug-abusing doctor who's accused of murder.
