Kimberlin Brown, The Young and the Restless and Arianne Zuker, Days of our Lives
Despite what you may've read elsewhere, soap superstar Kimberlin Brown is not gunning for a role on Days of our Lives. "That is pure rumor," a show rep insists to TVGuide.com. "We're not sure where it came from."
While suds fans best know Brown as she-devil Sheila Carter from The Young and the Restless
and The Bold and the Beautiful
, she is a hero in real life. Brown recently donated her bone marrow to help save the life of a 16-month-old baby girl who was born with leukemia. "I can't imagine a family having to lose [a child]," she told Extra
. "This is why I did what I did. Is there anything more important that you can do before you leave the world than to save someone else?"
SupernaturalSo this Supernatural could've used more... cowbell. Sam and Dean's brush with the evil preacher's wife and the nasty reaper meant it was the perfect opportunity to dust off Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper." The episode also could've used more Dean-is-dying angst. He went from zapped to lying on his deathbed to healed in the first 15 minutes of the show. I mean, come on. How 'bout stretchin' it out for another episode or two? Or at the very least giving us a couple over-the-top chick-flick moments before the blind preacher man did his healing thing? But Dean stayed true to character as the nonbeliever and struggled with why he was chosen over those he felt were worthier. Like Buffy and Angel alu
Speaking of Knots Landing alums, Kathleen Noone is a busy lady. When she's not playing sassy senior Edna Wallace on Passions, she's recurring on According to Jim as Courtney Thorne-Smith's mother. Noone next appears in Jim's Christmas episode Dec. 13.
And here's some scoop you'll hear only from TVGuide.com's resident soap whisperer: Noone will be in the Jan. 24 episode of WB's Supernatural
. "Jared Padalecki
and Jensen Ackles
(ex-Eric, Days of our Lives
) are delightful, sweet and really cute!" she enthuses. "In the episode, my character's husband is killed by a [ghost] truck that keeps running people off of the road." (Check out this week's AA
for more info on Supernatural
's January guest stars.)
Veteran character actor (and former Screen Actors Guild president) Richard Masur joins All My Children on Jan. 13 as TV network exec Jesse Johnson. He'll get involved with Erica Kane's fictional talk show, New Beginnings.... Julia Barr has announced she'll remain on AMC as Brooke for "at least another year," despite rumors to the contrary.... It's still unknown whether Hillary B. Smith, whose Nora character is currently comatose, will stay at One Life to Live. As previously reported, Smith's contract expires this month.... Sources say Playboy pinup Sung Hi Lee (ex-Sophie, Days of our Lives) recently auditioned to play General Hospital's Dr. Kelly Lee. However, as you read here first,
Devotees of Matthew Ashford are worried about the Days of our Lives star. His heroic alter ego, Jack Devereaux, has been having suicidal thoughts ever since he was stricken with an unspecified, mysterious soap illness that supposedly guarantees him a slow, painful death. Worse yet, he drove his car off an icy bridge last week. In today's episode, Jack's wrecked auto will be dredged out of the river — and no body will be found inside.
So, has the NBC sudser sacrificed Ashford and his classic character just to push Jack's saintly wife, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves
) back into the arms of ex-boyfriend Frankie (Billy Warlock
)? Is this the bitter end of Jack and Jen's love story? Don't bet on it. "What we are able to say is that Matt is still
a contract player," a Days
rep tells TVGuide.com. "We can't give any specifics. Sorry!" Guess we'll just have to stay tuned....
After Kelly Monaco's success on Dancing with the Stars, it's no surprise ABC would cast another soap diva for the second edition, which debuts Jan. 5. As previously reported here, Days of our Lives alumna Lisa Rinna — who cohosts Soap Talk on the ABC-owned cable channel SoapNet — is among the Stars expected to sign up. Since Lisa's my girl, rest assured that TVGuide.com will cover this developing Dancing story with obsessive interest.
"Last year, you and I had a parallel life because I was on trial for a crime I never committed, and I was sent to prison, and when I got out, people loved me even more!" — Days of our Lives star Deidre Hall on NBC's Martha, comparing Marlena's soap-opera woes to Martha Stewart's real-life troubles.
Austin Peck is thrilled by news that his leading lady, Christie Clark, will return to Days of our Lives on Dec. 2. "I think Austin is going to go after Carrie," he enthuses. "That's Austin's true love!" For more from Peck about what's to come on Days, read our hilarious Soaps Q&A. Seriously, this guy's a hoot and a half!
Days of our Lives is making good on its promise to bring back more classic characters. Now that Austin Peck is back as Sami's ex-lover, Austin Reed, what better time for Christie Clark to return as Carrie, the half sister Sami once battled for his affections? She'll reappear on the NBC sudser in early December.
"Days could not be more delighted that Christie Clark is returning to Salem," the show's rep tells TVGuide.com. "Since the [Carrie] character and the actress both grew up on the show, they are both an integral part of our history, on and off the screen. The fans should look forward to a tremendous story that picks up where Carrie left off. We will most certainly be addressing the imminent questions about Carrie's past relationships."
When last seen in 1999, Carrie left town to be with Dr. Mike Horton (Roark Critchlow). Mike won't be back, confirms the rep, but his a
The soaps rock!
What a gas, gas, gas! Mick Jagger is guest-starring on Days of our Lives this month. Well, sort of. Actually, the music video for the new Rolling Stones single "Streets of Love" will premiere Oct. 18 on Days. And just in case you don't catch it then, the Stones tune will frequently be heard as a romantic theme during dramatic scenes over the next month. It's one of a series of colorful stunts marking the NBC sudser's 40th anniversary this year. If only Mick would visit Salem in the flesh to cure Marlena's pesky amnesia with a kiss. That's a giant lip-lock Deidre Hall wouldn't soon forget!
