Dancing with the Stars cuts not one, but two pairs. Plus: The couples select next week's dances for each other. Who went home and who picked what? Find out below!
Double elimination, guys! Who you got? I think we can all agree that Drew is all but a goner. He's already been in the bottom two and had the dubious, unforgettable honor of going first. Bristol and Kirstie are way out of their league and should be outta here too, but we all know neither is going anywhere. Besides, Bristol's rehearsal meltdown came at the perfect time to elicit sympathy votes. She planned it this way! (I kid, I kid... maybe.)
Shawn and Derek get the encore.
First three safe couples:
Melissa and Tony
Gilles and Peta
Emmitt and Cheryl
Kirstie and Maks are in jeopardy. What's this new deal of Tom and Brooke being all up in the couples' faces to tell them their fates? Is it supposed to be intimidating? Maybe if Brooke knew how to read off a cue card. Personal space, please!
Kyle and Lacey return and perform to Frankie Moreno. On a scale of zero to silence, how much do we think Kyle and Bristol said to each other backstage?
Next three safe couples:
Shawn and Derek
Apolo and Karina
Kelly and Val
Drew and Anna are in jeopardy, and he's totally resigned to leaving. And they are.
Back-to-back boy-banders gone! The 14-year-old in me is crying. "I can honestly say I would not change a thing," Drew says. "I came back because this is fun. I had an amazing time."
I love Drew, but he was never going to win this again in this cast. And for some reason, he and Anna didn't really click right away. Maybe he was still ticked that he didn't get Cheryl back, but there was something off about them the first week, and they never recovered. Or maybe Joey's voodoo doll was at work again.
Dance Selections
Here's how this works: The couple with the lowest cumulative score picks for the couple with the highest cumulative score and on it goes, then it reverses. They all have 10 seconds to pick. And as Tom and Brooke have reminded us ad nauseam, this is about strategy: Do you pick the worst dance for someone? Do you not give away a dance you want and hope you'll get it? Only nine of these will be performed, obviously. Poor Drew! He didn't even get to participate in a moot game.
Bristol and Mark pick Bollywood for Gilles and Peta.
Kirstie and Maks pick disco for Sabrina and Louis.
Helio and Chelsie pick mambo for Shawn and Derek. Yes, please, Helio, make this even easier for the golden boy.
Kelly and Val pick bolero for Emmitt and Cheryl.
Melissa and Tony pick hip hop for Apolo and Karina. Um, what? Did you forget what his freestyle was?
Apolo and Karina pick jitterbug for Melissa and Tony.
Emmitt and Cheryl pick contemporary for Kelly and Val.
Shawn and Derek pick Broadway for Helio and Chelsie.
Sabrina and Louis pick Charleston for Kirstie and Maks... and they are not amused. This is pure evil and I love it!
Bristol and Mark are left with rock 'n' roll.
Next safe couple:
Bristol and Mark
Sabrina and Louis, and Helio and Chelsie are the remaining bottom two.
And the second couple going home is... Helio and Chelsie.
"I want to thank America. You guys voted for me. I couldn't be happier," Helio says.
Two former champs gone! And Bristol's still around. Let's just all brace ourselves for another final three run. It may just happen. This is a bummer — Helio should've been around for a few more weeks — but it's not that surprising since they were another previous bottom-two occupant. But at least they gave us this during their short stint.
What do you think? Should Drew and Helio have been eliminated? How much longer will Bristol and Kirstie be around? What do you think of the dances and picks? Was Helio's elimination karma for selecting the freakin' mambo for Shawn and Derek? Are you excited for Paula Abdul next week? Who's your current pick to win?
