Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Tuesday, April 10, 2012 Season 14, Episode 7

Dancing with the Stars gets down to single digits as it cuts another couple — and this one's a "shocker," according to Tom Bergeron. Was it? Plus: What's the latest on Melissa?

First things first, if you're not up on your Twitter news today, Melissa suffered a mild concussion and whiplash last night, but is fine. However, according to her webmaster, she won't be on the show tonight on doctor's orders. And now onto the good stuff. Per Tom, the results will make our jaws drop. Obviously, that means Gavin and Gladys are safe. If one of the judges' pets leaves (William, Sherri) a week before the dance-off ploy starts, it would just be too perfect.

After KISS opens the show, we get right down to the drama. Footage shows that Melissa had hit her head against Maks' leg last night while he was twirling her during his slip-up. Paramedics tended to her backstage before Gavin carried her out because he's awesome. And just like that, he's bought himself a few more weeks on the show. Maks also hurt his arm last night. "It took away the pain from the ankle, knees and shoulders," Maks quips, before thanking Gavin for carrying Melissa out.

First two safe couples:
Melissa and Maks
Gavin and Karina, who are not in the bottom two for the first time this season. "This is the best week ever!" Gavin screams. Also nice to see Maks and Karina hug it out on stage. Baby steps, people. Or it's all just for show.

Encore dance! I totally forgot about these. Donald and Peta rightfully get the honor, and I almost feel bad for Katherine, who deserved one the past three weeks. And if she leaves tonight, well... Backstage, Jaleel threatens us with nudity next week and I throw up in my mouth.

Next three safe couples:
Maria and Derek
Jaleel and Kym
Gladys and Tristan

After a performance by Karina and her ballet buddy José Carreño, the highest-scoring dudes hit the stage.

Next safe couple:
Donald and Peta

Roshon and Chelsie are in the bottom two. Score-wise, this is surprising, but the success of Disney kids has run the gamut, from The Legend of Sabrina Bryan to Kyle Massey's unexpected run to second place.

Speaking of Sabrina and Kyle, if you're in Vegas this weekend (and for the next 12 weeks), you can catch them (and Carson Kressley, Joey Fatone, Tia Carrere, Dmitry Chaplin and Lacey Schwimmer) at the Dancing with the Stars: Live in Las Vegas show at the Tropicana. If you're not there, then just watch their sneak peek performance on a loop. By the way, has Sabrina done anything since Dancing? I sorta love how she's made a career out of getting prematurely eliminated from a reality show.

Next two safe couples:
Katherine and Mark. She doesn't hear the news in her earpiece at first and does the most adorable hop-skip-jump when she finds out. See, Sherri? That's how you react without being annoying.
William and Cheryl

That means Sherri and Val join Roshon and Chelsie in the bottom two.

And the couple going home is... Sherri and Val.

Sherri bursts into tears. "I just want to say thank you for letting me live a dream that I always had," she says. "That thing that scares you the most ... run towards it because it's so amazing on the other side." "She's an incredible person. She fought for me and I'm just really, really sorry," Val says.

Shocker! Not really. Well, from the show's perspective, yeah, but Sherri did have the second-lowest scores. And for all the praise the judges heaped on her for her personality, she has equally, if not more, detractors. That plus going first, a bad dance and low scores = buh-bye! I am bummed a Chmerkovskiy final is officially out of the question (not that that was ever gonna happen this season anyway.)

What did you think? Is Sherri's boot a huge shocker? Or are you happy she's gone? Can Melissa rebound next week? Was this Gavin's best week ever? How do we prevent Jaleel from going nude? Who's your current pick to win?
