Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Tuesday, May 8, 2012 Season 14, Episode 15

It's double elimination time on Dancing with the Stars! Which two couples missed out on the semifinals? Plus: DanceCenter!

Can we all agree that Roshon is toast? Sorry, dude. The second elimination should be Melissa — who turned 48 today — based on skill and technique. But I would not be surprised at all if her Half-Pint and Maks' army of a fan base can save them for another week. Plus: She wasn't as heinous last night.

Len taps Donald, Peta and Karina for the encore for their "first-class" trio jive. Then why didn't you give them a 30, huh? Huh?! Might I say the routine is even more entertaining the second time around. I have to believe they keep underscoring Donald for a good reason and not just to prop up their pets... like maybe he's running away with the votes? Still, give the guy the score he deserves.

First safe couple:
Donald and Peta

Katherine and Mark are in jeopardy.

Kenny Mayne, Jerry Rice and Len are back!
Katherine's stats: No weaknesses; obsessed with naughty bits. "I'm not sure which naughty bit she's talking about," Kenny says. Oh, yes, you do.
Roshon's stats: Mom makes great sack lunch; "Roshon looks like a young Barack Obama," Kenny quips. "The difference between the two is Barack Obama has a chance of winning this year."
William's stats: Strengths: eye candy; weight, height, teeth and eyes: perfect. But not as perfect as Len's shirtless and oiled-up bod! I think I need new corneas.
Maria's stats: Likes to kiss Derek; bones: brittle. "She's the most injured star to ever come on this show," Kenny says. Yeah, but she's Greek!
Melissa's stats: Enjoys rides in ambulances; height: half-pint; fun fact: Melissa doesn't have screws in her back, but a longhorn steer!
Donald's stats: Dancing super-fan; likes to fall down (which, I have to say, I haven't even noticed.) "[Football players], if you're too lazy to tackle Donald Driver, just compliment him on his paso doble," Kenny says.

After Chris Brown turns the whole joint into a nightclub (alleged violent streak aside, he is a one hell of a dancer), we get our first elimination between William and Cheryl, and Roshon and Chelsie. As my Friend Chandler would say, could this be more obvious?

Second safe couple:
William and Cheryl

Roshon and Chelsie are dunzo. Not in front of his grandmas! I knew this was coming, you knew this was coming and so did they. The kid is great (he had the second-highest score last night), but he's been living on borrowed time — bottom two the past two weeks, so third time's the charm. And for whatever reason, he never had or gained the fan base past Disney dancers had. At least they went out on a high note. "I'm so proud of you," Chelsie tells him. "He was such a joy to work with."

Following a tribute to Dick Clark (with original American Bandstand dancers in the audience) and Dmitry and Anya Garnis' own trio dance with a guitar, it's time for the final two couples.

Next safe couple:
Maria and Derek

Melissa and Maks are in jeopardy.

And the couple going home is... Melissa and Maks.

Happy birthday, Melissa! "I can't even describe what a learning and growing experience this has been," she says. "Maks has been amazing — an incredible teacher and an incredible friend. ... I'm amazed that I even made it this far. ... To be here this day makes it an incredible birthday."

"I wish I could've given you a better birthday present," Maks says.

So no big surprises. As fun as it would've been for M&M to advance just to spite the judges, it was her time to go. She'd be way out of her league next week against everyone else and like Roshon, she can leave on a high note with her best performances. Also, let's all be thankful that we won't have to suffer through another "Maks verbally abuses his partner" package next week.

What do you think? Did the right couples go home? Are you pleased with the semifinalists? Did you like this installment of DanceCenter? Have you erased the image of shirtless Len from your memory yet? Who's your current pick to win?
