Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 Season 13, Episode 6

Dancing with the Stars bounces its second couple of the season. Did the lowest-scoring couple leave for the second straight week, or did someone else get the boot? Plus: We get an actual bottom two for once!

I must say, I love how tight the scores have been so far — usually there's like a 10-point spread somewhere or the judges bust out the 9 paddles too soon, but it's been relatively close. It keeps things somewhat exciting, and we definitely need that on results nights.

First safe couple:
Carson and Anna

David and Kym are in jeopardy.

Ricki and Derek get the encore, and then we launched directly into Ricki doing her best rapper impression for a DWTS Cribs segment. This is where I zoned out for about a minute thinking about Mariah Carey's hilariously amazing one-hour Cribs episode. Then I thought of the Morrocan room and how she named her kid that and I hate myself. Anyway, Studio 1, FYI, is the most coveted because it's a replica of the set. Derek, nice boy that he is, shows us the exact spots in there where Hines dropped Kym on her head and where Tony infamously quit. Never forget. Carson tries on old costumes, including Bristol's gorilla suit. "Smells like a tea party still," he quips. Rimshot! Last but not least, a boxer-briefed Val is at Princess Elisabetta's beck and call by the blow-up "pool," which I imagine is pretty accurate.

Chelsie and Dmitry are back! Temporarily. (Miss you guys!) They perform to The Script, after which the top three couples hit the stage.

Next three safe couples:
Ricki and Derek
Kristin and Mark
J.R. and Karina

Brooke grills the next three couples following the Macy's Stars of Dance homage to Busby Berkeley with her usual well though-out questions. Would you really ask the person with the lowest score if they're confident about staying? "No! I'm completely nervous right now!" Chaz admonishes her. Besides, if we've learned anything from these fluff packages, it's that no one's confident on results nights.

Next safe couple:
Rob and Cheryl
Nancy and Tristan

Chaz and Lacey are in jeopardy.

Demi Lovato performs "Skyscraper" next while some interpretative dancers scale a ladder and stairs. In case you didn't get the metaphor. I know lots of people are way into this song... but I'm not feeling it. She does look and sound great though.

Next two safe couples:
Chynna and Tony
Hope and Maks

Elisabetta and Val are in jeopardy.

Tom tells us they will reveal the actual bottom two this week. Twist! When was the last time that happened? The bottom two are David and Kym, and Elisabetta and Val, which means Chaz and Lacey are safe. Notice how Tom didn't say Chaz and Lacey were in the bottom three.

And the couple leaving is... Elisabetta and Val.

Unsurprising. Girlfriend was unknown here outside of her, uh, work with George, and it wasn't like she was the most personable of characters. (Also, Stacy Keibler made the finals, so George wins again.) I am bummed we won't get to see more of Val's awesome colored horned-rimmed glasses. This makes two new pros gone in the first two weeks. Watch out, Tristan.

"It was a great adventure. I want to thank everybody because they made me come here," Elisabetta says. "It was a great experience."

"I'm sorry, I wish I did better for you," Val tells her, while Maks glumly looks on.

And that's all for now. Next week, stars must tell the most memorable year of their lives expressed through their routines.

What did you think of the results? Are you sad the Chmerkovskiy bros have been split? Are you surprised David was in the bottom two? Is Tristan in danger next week? Would you ever try on Bristol's gorilla suit? Should there be a memorial in the spot where Tony quit? Who's your current pick to win?
