Holly worries about Nia's featured role in the group dance. Meanwhile, Abby's second open audition puts all of the moms and girls on edge; and Melissa is criticized by the other moms for choosing to home school Maddie and MacKenzie.
The moms are shocked when Abby brings in a new dancer for a trial run on the competition team. Meanwhile, Christi becomes concerned that Abby will replace her daughter with the new girl; and Melissa feels that her girls are being overshadowed.
Abby holds her final open casting call in New York and announces that she is putting together a new all-star, junior elite team to rival her own girls. The dance company takes part in two competitions, with Paige involved in more dances than ever.
Christi isolates herself from the other moms now that Kelly and her daughters are no longer at the studio; Kira and her daughter Kalani test for a spot on Abby's competition team; Holly worries that Nia won't be prepared for her solo due to Abby's inattentiveness.

Payton struggles to perform a challenging number that could determine her future with the dance company. Meanwhile, Maddie and Mackenzie go head-to-head in competition; and Christi considers homeschooling Chloe.

The team travels to Woodbridge, Va., to face their toughest competition yet, Studio Bleu. Abby invites Jade and new dance mom Loree to join the Elite Team for the week; and she shocks everyone when she scrapes the group routine and choreographs a dance about phobias instead.
Abby swaps Chloe and Christi for the Select Team's Jade and Loree in the third head-to-head battle between the Elite and Select teams in Washington, D.C. Both teams are anxious to impress Abby when she announces that Nationals are just five weeks away. Meanwhile, Jeanette and Ava are excited to compete in a solo against Maddie, until it becomes obvious that the odds are stacked against them.
The dance company visits Michigan, where the three youngest members go head-to-head to see who will be competing in a solo at Nationals. Meanwhile, Abby learns that Jeanette is bringing Ava to compete against them, so she plots to secure the win and causes a fight between the ALDC moms.
Abby assigns Chloe and Kendall to be Maddie's understudies for the week, and it prompts Holly to keep track of all the times Abby favors Maddie over everyone else. Meanwhile, the Candy Apples seek their first win against ALDC this season, and they bring back Gino to help them secure it.
Everyone tries to impress Abby in the last competition before Nationals, especially Nia, Kendall and Sarah who all have solos. Meanwhile, Tracey's dream of joining the Elite team is threatened; and Cathy crashes the competition and causes Abby to explode.
