CSI: Miami Episode Recap: "Dead on Arrival" Season 7, Episode 22

Television love, murder and betrayal all play out on this episode of CSI: Miami.

Ripped from the headlines, Neil Palmer is the bachelor on a dating show called The Marrying Kind where he aims to find love with one of 12 possible women. Neil appears to first pick Kaitlin Sawyer but then takes away the special necklace and tells her he hopes they're friends forever. It's a little bit of a spoof of the real life Bachelor story that unfolded just a couple of months ago. Neil then opens the door to the second limo and the girl he wants to marry, Grace Carlson, is dead inside.

Natalia and Horatio show up to question the host who can't believe this has happened on his show.

"It happens, because reality just became real," says Horatio.

Eric and Natalia gather evidence from the limo and Calleigh questions the limo driver who says he had left the limo for a few minutes for a smoke break. He says Neil disappeared for a while during the taping. Horatio questions Neil who says he got cold feet and that the pressure of all the cameras got to him.  He had thought the whole show was a joke when he first agreed to be a contestant, but then was surprised when he actually fell in love.

"Paying me to date a dozen women...I fell in love with Grace for free," says Neil.

In the lab Dr. Price is popping a pill while Kyle sees from afar. He confronts her and she says her shoulder has been hurting her since the gazebo fell on it. She asks him to run a sex kit and nail scrape on Grace.

Ryan and Natalia watch the footage from the "confession cam" from the limo but the screen goes black just before anything happens. During Kaitlin's taping, she turns her own camera off right after her confession.

Natalia and Horatio go to a hotel where they talk to Marisa Dixon (Adrianne Palicki), another contestant on the show who was sequestered before the show was finished taping. She points them in the direction of an upset Kaitlin. Kaitlin says she hid from the camera after her confession because she didn't want anyone to see that she was crying. She got too wrapped up in the show and that wasn't like her. She said she's had some setbacks in her life.

At a marina, Calleigh and Eric are swooning over one another but then try and focus on the evidence. They find tire tracks and a print on a wireless signal, jamming device. It belongs to the host who says he used one of those devices on the show. He also explains how all the ladies tend to turn to him for "comforting and reassurance" while taping the show and that he was always in their limos.

The DNA from the sex kit is a match with Neil's DNA, and they also found skin cells from under Grace's nails. Neil said Grace had mentioned someone went through her stuff back at the mansion. He blames the show for creating drama. He says it could have been Grace's roommates, Marisa and Ericka. Marisa admits to shredding Grace's clothes she won in a challenge because she was jealous, but swore she never fought her physically.

Natalia and Ryan look at the night vision footage from the bedroom camera and find that a man was looking in on the girls. The man is Russell Keener, who has a record, so they bring him in for questioning.

Natalia and Callie are discussing the show (The Marrying Man), and Natalia has downloaded some top clips when she finds one where Marisa and Grace had a physical fight. Upon questioning, Marisa tells Calleigh she was acting and that most fights on these shows are staged. She says the only person that loved Neil enough to actually kill him was Kaitlin. Eric and Horatio go to the hotel to find her, but she is gone. There is a prism that shines on the wall when the light hits it, just like the missing crystal stopper in the limo decanter they had found earlier. It has blood on it, so they know they've found the murder weapon in her room.

Travers finds snake venom on the weapon which Natalia says has broken the case, although she doesn't tell us why yet. Calleigh goes to talk to Marisa who says she worked with Neil to throw the show so she could take a quarter million and he would get the rest of the million dollars. But instead, Neil fell in love with Grace. Natalia says she saw the episode where Marisa used viper balm on her spa treatment date with Neil, hence the venom trace.

"He took something from me, I wanted to take something from him," cries Marisa.

She used Miles' video jammer to cut the camera before she killed Grace in the limo.

"I thought I could pin it all on Kaitlin . I mean look at her. She totally fits the part of a murderer," says Marisa.

"Actually, you do. Congratulations, you just landed the role of a life time," says Calleigh.

But the story's not over yet. Kaitlin was attacked by a man with a knife when she was 9-years-old, and the man who attacked her was none other than Russell Keener. Miles says the girls got a consolation prize of a cell phone when they left the show. They had GPS systems in them to make sure the girls did not leave the hotel. Ryan and Horatio track Kaitlin to the Harbor Vista Marina. Russell is there and says he saw his signature scar on her neck when he caught the show one night on TV. He was upset because she had put him away for 15 years, and said she needed to be taught discipline. Horatio finds Kaitlin in an ice chest and pulls her out — coming to the rescue of yet another woman.
