Q: I read the news that William Petersen will cut back his time at CSI and won't be on air as much through the end of the series. Yet as I read the online reactions, I was surprised the news was taken as Petersen is gone when he isn't. Q: Looking back over the season, I can't help but notice the oddity that three hit procedural shows (Law & Order, CSI and SVU) over the last month chose to write out characters through use of the exact same premise: "Cop is under investigation for a suspicious shooting." I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, it's a rather glaring example of the overwhelming sameness among so many procedurals. Q: I just had to write to you about the CSI season finale. I found the episode devastating and feel the need to commiserate with another TV fan about this very, very shocking end to Gary Dourdan's wonderful run as Warrick. I, and many other fans, are terribly upset about this horrific turn of events and can't believe how the producers have slammed shut the door on this character. Q: Watching last week's CSI finale, I couldn't help comparing it to the best show on TV today, The Shield. CSI wanted desperately to provide its audience with a "shocking" ending. They were able to succeed moderately on that level. (Though I don't think too many of us were surprised that they were going to kill Warrick after having spared the life of the incredibly annoying Sara from last season's "shocking" finale.) Q: I live for Thursdays when I can get my Office and 30 Rock fixes, but last Thursday, I found myself much more interested in the CSI episode written by the Two and a Half Men scribes. My two favorites had to take a back seat because that was the most fun I've had watching TV in a long time. With the puns, in-jokes and fast pace, it out-rocked 30 Rock.
