Disney stars and real-life BFFs Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez give appealing performances in this charming 2009 cable comedy that tweens will likely devour. Lovato is pampered princess Rosalinda Marie Montoya Fiore, who is soon to be crowned queen of her tiny nation, Costa Luna. But a neighboring dictator launches a military coup, and Rosalinda is rescued by the Princess Protection Program and relocated to rural Louisiana. There she rooms with Carter (Gomez), a local teen who is her polar opposite. Sparks fly. But a budding friendship is also ignited.
