Criminal Minds

Criminal Minds
9/8c CBS
Gavin Rossdale is better known as a musician than an actor, but he gets to meld the two professions when he guest stars as a rock star in this episode. As the team tracks a serial killer, they make the connection that the murders seem to match up with the touring schedule of a goth rocker (Rossdale) that they suspect has become lost in his dark stage persona.

What's the story with new episodes of 24? — Randy
MICKEY: Are you a baseball fan, Randy? Even if you're not, you should tune in to the World Series because that's when Fox will unveil the first preview of the new season of 24, which starts in January 2010. But until then, here's a tidbit: Within the first hour of Season 8, Jack will meet his granddaughter. No word yet on whether Baby Bauer is rooting for New York or Philadelphia. (Go Phillies!)

I'd like to know if there will be an evolution in the Abby/Gibbs relationship on NCIS this season. — Lucia
ADAM: Are you one of those Gabby 'shippers? Because if so, ew. In any case, executive producer Shane Brennan sounds delighted about an arc he has planned for Abby this season — and says Gibbs plays a big part in it. "[Abby] does have a special relationship with Gibbs, [who has changed] because of the journey he has taken over the past two-and-a-half seasons," Brennan says. "Most people will see that Gibbs smiles more now; he's kind of warming up. There's certainly more to learn about the relationship between Gibbs and Abby, and we play toward that in this special arc of Abby's."

Ratings: ABC's Comedy Numbers Are No Laughing Matter

Modern Family

ABC's new comedies have given the network something to smile about.

Modern Family and Cougar Town debuted to 12.7 million and 11.4 million viewers, respectively. Although CBS' Criminal Minds won the 9/8c timeslot in overall viewers (15.4 million), the ABC comedy combo was the most-watched in the key demographics. Following a Dancing with the Stars results show, which won the 8/7c hour with 15 million viewers, Modern Family improved ABC's rating in the demo by 23 percent.

Despite stiff premiere competition at 9/8c, Glee pulled 6.6 million viewers, a loss of only 5 percent week-to-week. NBC's Law & Order: SVU premiere was watched by 8.2 million viewers, but came up last in the demos.

Comedy wasn't as strong for CBS. A 8/7c combo of debuts from The New Adventures of Old Christine (7.7 million viewers) and Gary Unmarried (7.4 million viewers) took second behind Dancing. Fox's So You Think You Can Dance was up slightly from a week ago with 5.6 million viewers and NBC's Mercy debuted to 8.2 million viewers.

What's going on with Cuddy, Wilson, Foreman, Cameron and Chase while House is in the mental institution? —
RBlythe
MICKEY:
First off, have you seen this Season 6 preview? Because I just noticed something awesome: Dr. House is kissing the brilliant Franka Potente (Run Lola Run, the Bourne films), and she's wearing a lab coat. Hmm... Until we get to that, though, only Wilson and House will appear in the season premiere, which takes place at the Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital. After that, look for Foreman to take the lead back at Princeton-Plainsboro, which will cause a rift in his relationship with Thirteen. What do you people have against the lovely Olivia Wilde anyway?

Do you know if Amita accepts Charlie's proposal on Numbers? — Marie
ADAM:

Premise: A procedural thriller about the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, which profiles criminals to solve crimes. The ensemble drama relies on the diversity of the team, which includes a young genius and a seasoned leader tortured by a past case. Unlike other crime dramas that focus on science, this series is very cerebral and almost Holmesian in its deductive analysis of the crimes and their perpetrators.
