The evolution of American crafts is examined through the works of furniture designer Tanya Aguiñiga, textile artist Lia Cook and potters Warren MacKenzie, Jeff Oestreich and Clary Illian. The L.A.-based Aguiñiga explores color, texture and minimalism; Cook, who works out of Berkeley, Cal., combines weaving and painting, photography and digital technology; and the Midwest-based MacKenzie, Oestreich and Illian adhere to the Mingei philosophy of creating traditional items for everyday use.
