Mega Buzz on Grey's, House, Lost, NCIS and More!

Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy), Jennifer Morrison (House) and Matthew Fox (Lost)

Senior editors Matt Webb Mitovich and Mickey O'Connor answer your questions. As always, you may direct your own spoilery needs to mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

Having Denny appear on one episode of Grey's Anatomy, because Izzie's memories were triggered by a case, is one thing. But to make him a ghostly fixture in her life and carry on some kind of romance from beyond the grave is beyond ridiculous. — Evie
MATT: I hear you. Getting it on with a ghost is so circa-1981 Barbara Hershey. Now, if s-e-x between living, breathing humans is what floats your boat — and lord knows the pickings are slim if you only watch Grey's, Ghost Whisperer and Supernatural these days — Drs. Owen Hunt and Cristina Yang might soon move beyond spontaneous necking and into full-on boinking. As Kevin McKidd himself tells me, "At the end of the day, this is Grey's Anatomy, so you can bet good money on it!" (Read my full Q&A with "McArmy" on Thursday. Great Scot, he gave up crazy Journeyman scoop!) As for Izzie and Denny, that "ghost story" isn't ending any time soon, seeing as Jeffrey Dean Morgan still has a few more appearances left (says EW's Ausiello).

I've missed Chase and Cameron on House, and was thrilled to see them in significant roles again. Are they more involved in future episodes? — Shane
MICKEY: Though the much-touted "hostage" episode airing Nov. 25 is kind of the Thirteen Show (Olivia Wilde is great in it), Chase and Cameron do ... read more

NBC Greenlights New Dick Wolf Pilot

Dick Wolf by Chris Haston/NBC Universal Photo

A new pilot from Law & Order guru Dick Wolf is in the works for NBC, featuring "an unconventional female detective" who solves the murders of anonymous victims, according to Variety .Lost and Found will be written by Law & Order alum Chris Levinson, and pick up is contingent upon who they cast to headline the show.Sound familiar? I thought so, too. The first thing that comes to mind when the words, "unconventional female detective," are pitched is the plethora of successful shows already containing that dynamic. The Closer has quirky southerner Brenda Leigh Johnson, Cold Case has flashbacking Lilly Rush, and Saving Grace has self-destructive, angel-talking Grace Hanadarko. How do you think Dick Wolf and Co. can distinguish this show from so many others already on our radar? — Erin FoxRelated• Dick Wolf Seeks Profit Justice• Use Our Online Video Guide to Watch More Law & Order read more

Reader Jeer of the Week: Cold Case Doesn't Add Up

From Roy Herstein in San Francisco...Jeers to the Nov. 4 episode of Cold Case for thinking we wouldn't do the math. The murder takes place 69 years ago in 1938. All of the major characters are, at best, in their early thirties, which would make all of them over 100 today. Miraculously, they are all still alive and played by actors in their seventies and eighties, like Pa Walton (Ralph Waite) and Seinfeld's Uncle Leo (Len Lesser).• Read and react to Bruce's opinions on AMC's Mad Men reruns, Top Model and more!• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the brand-new Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine! read more

New Face, Same Old Minds

Paget Brewster, Thomas Gibson and Joe Mantegna in The Unit by Michael Desmond/ABC Studios

Say this for Joe Mantegna: He doesn’t make Criminal Minds any worse. Like that’s even possible. This inexplicably popular crime drama remains the most pretentious, the most simplistic and the most dehumanizing of CBS’ current glut of procedurals. Replacing Mandy Patinkin, who quit between seasons — I’m guessing he finally watched an episode — Mantegna makes a valiant effort at creating an actual character, but he invariably gets lost amid the wood (his supporting cast) and the cheese (the scripts). We first see him bird hunting in a Virginia marsh. The next time we see water, a dead body (a brutalized, mutilated woman, naturally) is floating in a Dallas suburb. This victim’s backstory? She comes home to find a "Have You Seen Me?" poster on her door with her own face on it. Understandably spooked, she goes to the sheriff, who figures it’s just a Halloween prank. We know better, having seen this show in action before. Soon enough, she’s a go... read more
