Andre Benjamin Previews His New 'Toon, Class of 3000

Anyone who's seen the video for "Hey Ya!" knows that Andre "3000" Benjamin is a character. Now, he's an animated character as well. Inspired by the singer's childhood, Cartoon Network's new Class of 3000 is the story of a disillusioned entertainer who spurns superstardom to mentor a class of talented young musicians. In addition to cocreating and producing the show, the Grammy Award winner also composes music for each episode, and voices his alter ego, Sunny Bridges. TVGuide.com recently spoke with the multitalented performer about his new venture, premiering this Friday, Nov. 3, at 8 pm/EST.

While Kim and Kam's sibling rivalry escalates, the Westley kids are challenged by crosstown rivals from Eastley whose teacher is an old foe of Sunny's. Driven to a teamwork boot camp by Sunny's determination to win back an award he lost as a pre-teen, Kim and Kam become the only hope for a Westley victory when the other kids instruments are destroyed.

Tamika gets involved with two older girls who are the coolest and, hence, most popular in school. They convince Tamika to help with a series of pranks. She does, but when the school's precious chalk supply is stolen, Tamika is suspended from school despite her lack of involvement. Framed by the girls, Tamika and the kids intend to turn the tables.

The Westley kids stumble upon Sunny's old school yearbook and mistake his years in a funk band for a tour of duty as a pirate. They find a treasure map that leads them to a cave where they awaken and unleash a toxic Sloppy Joe blob. Sunny himself has a connection to the blob and he and the kids must work together to save the day.

Li'l D's heart is broken and his faith is shaken when his musical idol, Sunny Bridges, and his music teacher both go missing on the same day. Joined by his fellow student music prodigies, Li'l D decides to have a benefit concert to raise money for a new teacher, but is unable to sell any tickets. Li'l D runs into Sunny, who has quit the music business and returned to Atlanta to lay low. Li'l D and his incredulous classmates set out to convince Sunny to play at their benefit concert. Sunny rejects this proposition, but when he hears the kids play, he realizes that though he may want out of the music business, he doesn't want out of the music. He helps the kids with their concert and then agrees to become their music teacher.
