I agree that the show is terrific. The episode last week was one of the most amazing episodes of TV I have ever seen.

In an era of testosterone-driven Vietnam movies such as Platoon, China Beach, created by award-winning journalist and Vietnam vet William Broyles Jr. and John Sacret Young, delivered the war from a unique perspective: that of the women, military personnel and civilians who were present during the conflict. Set in the Vietnam locale of China Beach, at the “Five and Dime”, also known as the 510th Evacuation Hospital and R&R center, the cast was made up of US Army doctors and nurses, officers, soldiers, Red Cross volunteers and civilian personnel, either on leave or at the end of their tour of duty.

It seems like a breath of fresh air compared to the mundane life in Ohio. It seems the Ohio storyline is just recycling old storylines with carbon copies of old characters. Do you think Glee will just abandon McKinley altogether after this season, because I don't think I can handle another season of the Glee Club trying to go to Nationals. — Lauren

Premise: This Emmy-winning drama did a fine job delivering a female perspective on Vietnam War experiences, mostly through the character of dedicated Army nurse Colleen McMurphy. Its eerie theme song, the Supremes' 'Reflections,' set a perfect tone for its mixture of wartime horrors and emotional upheavals.
