The Charmed ones: Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan
The Charmed ones have officially turned their last trick. Multiple sources confirm that execs behind the new CW network have decided to pull the plug on the eight-year drama. The final episode will air Sunday, May 21.
Ironically, executive producer Brad Kern was holed up in an editing bay all day Thursday and missed a call from the president of Spelling Entertainment giving him the official cancellation news. But it's not like it came as a surprise; he says he always intended to write this season's last episode as a series finale. "It's been a hell of a run," he says, "but all good things must come to an end."
Details of the final episode are being kept under wraps, but fan favorite Brian Krause will likely be back. And what ab

There's at least one WB series that won't be making the transition to the new CW network this fall, as the Charmed ones are about to cast their last spell. Read today's Ausiello Report for all the details.

Question: WB's Charmed — staying or going?
Answer: Going. Unlike Everwood, Charmed is prepping one ending and one ending only — a series finale.

Variety reports that Jenny McCarthy and Ivan Sergei (Charmed) will star in the ABC Family original movie Mary Christmas. McCarthy will play Santa's ambitious businesswoman daughter and, hopefully, wear one of those cute "naughty elf" costumes at some point.... Lifetime Television has tapped All My Children alumna Abigail Spencer — one of the nicest gals you could ever meet and a hottie in her own right — for the lead in Emily's Eyes, a procedural about an FBI agent seeking to right the wrongs of her treasonous CIA-operative parents. Thus far ordered for 13 episodes, Emily's Eyes could premiere as early as this summer.

Question: Anything new on Charmed?
Answer: Brian Krause was back on the set last week… as a visitor. (I know, I'm a big tease.) But I hear Brad Kern is doing everything in his power to bring Leo back before the series, er, season ends in May.

Question: Why is Everwood not considered a shoo-in for CW when it's in the Top 10 of current UPN and WB shows and in the Top 7 of WB shows in ratings this season? Or when it gets consistent critical acclaim? Or when it succeeds on a night with so much competition and does much better than expected on that night? Everwood is doing everything right and yet there's a strong possibility this could be its last season. My question is: why? Why is Veronica Mars a shoo-in with its very poor ratings while Everwood might not even make it with much better ratings and somewhat similar critical acclaim? It just doesn't make any sense to me at all. Television decisions never do, but this one is just completely confusing.
Answer: This has been a very popular question since the UPN/WB merger was announced. I wish I had an answer, but this situation is uncharted territory. My problem in trying to speculate about Everwood or any other show on either network's current lineup (besides the very few obvious

Reliable sources tell me that Eric Dane — that's Jason Dean to all of you Charmed fans — has landed the pivotal role of Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey's Anatomy. Not that you need to be reminded, but Mark is the creep who slept with Addison behind Derek's back. The traitorous doc shows up at Seattle Grace on Feb. 19.

Question: Just heard about the big WB-UPN merger and, although I think it's a great business decision, I'm naturally worried about the fate of some of my favorite shows. Gilmore Girls is safe, I assume. But many fans of Everwood, myself included, are understandably worried. It is the best drama on TV, IMO, with the most beautiful writing and acting anywhere, but I'm afraid its relatively low ratings may cause it to be axed to make enough space in the schedule for another ridiculous reality show. There are certainly worse and lower-rated shows on WB that I would hope would be canceled instead (Charmed and One Tree Hill leap to mind). But considering the barely veiled indifference with which the WB has treated Everwood (hardly promoting it, moving it to Thursday nights for no good reason), I'm more than a little concerned. I would hope that some of the critical accolades that you and others have lavished on the show would be a factor, but considering the fate of Arrested Development, I'm ...

Charlie Sheen and Emmanuelle Vaugier, Two and a Half Men
A ballerina dances back into Charlie's life on tonight's Two and a Half Men (9 pm/ET on CBS), when Emmanuelle Vaugier — who is seemingly everywhere these days — reprises her November 2005 role as Mia for several episodes. Will the Saw II siren be the one to finally make Charlie Sheen's player cough up the "commitment" word? TVGuide.com spoke with the actress about that, her run as Lex Luthor's honey and more.
TVGuide.com: What brings Mia back? Didn't Charlie selflessly let her go, out of deference to poor li'l Jake's crush?
Emmanuelle Vaugier: Yes, I know! It's never really explained, but
