"News" alert? Dr. Drew Pinksy the mind behind VH-1's Celebrity Rehab insists that Hollywood has a big addiction problem, and it's sweeping it under the red carpet. He tells the AP that celebrities aren't taking drug and alcohol addiction seriously enough, often opting for exclusive rehab facilities for stints that are too quick to heal them. For a guy who claims he doesn't like treating celebrities, Pinsky's mastered the art of not only treating them, but serving as the authority on their addiction. The doc will be laying out his Hollywood addiction views Tuesday in VH1 News Presents: Dr. Drew's Celebrity Addiction Special."If you had cancer, you would drop everything," he said. As previously reported, VH1 is bringing back Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew for a second season of exploiting chronicling the struggles celebs face while detoxing in a treatment facility. But this time around, there's one huge reason to watch: Gary Busey.Busey, whose wild antics have been well-documented (most recently his crazed behavior on the red carpet at the 2008 Academy Awards), is remarkably not one of the celebs in for treatment. Instead touting 13 years of sobriety since his cocaine addiction Busey will be a mentor to the new class of patients which includes Season 1 cast member Jeff Conaway (Grease), Sean Stewart (son of music icon Rod Stewart), model/actress Amber Smith, Rodney King, Guns N' Roses' Steven Adler, Tawny Kitaen and former American Idol wanabe Nikki McKibbin. Though unconfirmed by VH1, Page Six hears that Sean Stewart, son of singer Rod Stewart, will undergo Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.The second season of the series, in which Dr. Drew Pinsky helps celebs beat substance abuse and other issues, starts production this month.Young Stewart has had his share of run-ins with the dark side. Last year, for example, he was denied entrance to a trendy L.A. club, so he turned around and began hurling whatever he could find at a passing car, in turn injuring a passenger.Page Six says Pinsky will also help Heidi Fleiss beat her substance abuse problems, while former NBA star Dennis Rodman has been offered an opportunity to see the good doctor.
