Question: The return of Jericho brings up the question of how many other series have been renewed after having been officially canceled. I know some have done reunion specials or made-for-TV movies down the road, but how many have been brought back for actual episodes (even if it's just seven or so)?

It's Wednesday, so you know what that means.... It's "Pick of the Week" time!May 8 brings us a couple of Season 1 sets, a couple of complete series sets, with the only volume release being Voltron.I'm drawn toward choosing from two releases this week Cagney & Lacey Season 1 and The 4400 Season 3. Cagney & Lacey, for those who aren't aware, started as a TV movie, then received a short first season before airing a complete second season. Sharon Gless joined the series in Season 2, so MGM decided it was best to release these epi...

"Thanks to a great effort by MGM executives and some not-so-subtle nudging by [series] executive producer Barney Rosenzweig," the press release reads, Cagney & Lacey will, in fact, have its first season released on DVD May 8, in time for Mother's Day. "History has repeated itself," says Rosenzweig, alluding to the fan campaign that once rescued the series from the chopping block and the new flurry of e-mails that prompted MGM to cut through the latest red tape and get out a DVD. "In a time when I wondered if anyone even remembered who we were, it was clear that they did. I'm grateful that they remembered, and grateful to the folks at MGM who saw this, too."
