How fitting that in this time of striking writers and absent first-run programming Brothers Sisters should return to the air however briefly with an episode about coming together and catching up Yes its true that nearly every episode of this delightful show features some sort of Walker gathering but this time the family is getting together at Noras nudging simply because they havent seen each other in a while Well thats not entirely true Nora has a crush on Kittys friend Isaac and has invited him to dinner with her whole family as backup However things rarely go according to plan around this clan and by the end of the evening the gangs baggage is all on the table by dessert Would we have it any other wayThe wedding cliffhanger was the prevarication hanging over Roberts campaign which of course makes him a perfect fit with this family that has a tendency to have its secrets exposed The politicos arrived at dinner after the Senators live town

Episode Recap An American FamilyWelcome home Justin Yes while the show was still great last week having you back this week makes us realize how much we missed you And what a return With a busted knee and some scrapes Justin is due for a full recovery but its going to be a long haul for him since as a recovering addict he has refused to take any pain meds Justins physical pain may rival that of his journey of re-entry into a non-combat zone existence On a good day the Walkers can be overwhelming imagine that on top of coming home from war and this time as Justin reminds us hes not stoned Its a good thing we have the perfect senator around to provide the support that Justin may not be able to find in his immediate family The relationship between these two men has become one of my favorites on the show It makes sense that they have bonded given the senators own military history Without that closeness though Im sure I would have smirked

Episode Recap Home FrontAs Brothers and Sisters jumps into its second season its nice to see that the neurotic and argumentative Walkers are still just that The little quirks that made us love them last year are all back in full force They talk over one another pick at each other hold mini-grudges against each other get drunk together and they worry about each other Tonight it was the worrying that was at the crux of the show Justin still on active duty in Iraq has not been in touch for 21 days Is he okay Is he injured or worse Starting the show off with Nora recording a video message to her son was an effective way of catching us up with the family and keeping Justins off-screen character as much a part of the show as the rest of the family One of my favorite moments was just after Nora signed off and her game face immediately reverted back to the mask of concern that we know shes been wearing since that tearful airport good-bye in last seasons finale T
