Two brothers live on opposites sides of the law. One's a state politician, the other's a criminal in Providence, R.I.
  • Renewed Brotherhood Owes Dexter Its Life | Today's News: Our Take | 1/22/2008
Buoyed by its new post-Dexter berth — on Nov. 18, it hit a series high of 651,000 viewers — Brotherhood has been renewed by Showtime for a third, eight-episode season. Maybe now the cast of The Sopranos will stop making fun of the show's stars for only having a Peabody Award. — Ben Katner read more
  • Cheers: Dexter's Killer Finale | Cheers & Jeers | 12/17/2007
Cheers to Dexter for finishing its second season with a flourish. Michael C. Hall's "Bay Harbor Butcher" lived to slay another day after his crazy ex-lover Lila murdered his pursuer Sgt. Doakes — making it morally justifiable for Dex to off her. (I love a happy ending.) The skillfully executed episode capped a stellar year for Showtime, which just saw the Golden Globes recognize several of its series (although, sadly, not its best, Brotherhood). Want proof Showtime is the new HBO? Dexter's finale was funnier and more entertaining than Ricky Gervais' bloated, dispiriting Extras swan song, which aired opposite it on HBO. In short: Dexter kills.Related:• Daisies and Dexter Get Their Due• Read and react to Bruce's opinions on 30 Rock, Project Runway and more!• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine! read more
  • On a Busy Sunday, Praising Brotherhood | Roush Dispatch | 12/3/2007
This Sunday, it sure didn't feel as if the sweeps month had already ended. Major pivotal episodes of ABC's hit series, a movie special on CBS (one of the better Hallmark Hall of Fames to air in a while) and, somewhat lost in the shuffle, a season finale of one of TV's more underappreciated dramas. That's a lot to digest.First off, the watercooler show of the night was unquestionably Desperate Housewives, capping an above-par season with the long-awaited arrival of a devastating twister. The circumstances were just about as far-fetched as most things that happen in this diverting comedic soap, but that final shot of a flattened Wisteria Lane was truly apocalyptic. Lynnette’s banshee screech would have been justified even if she hadn’t just realized the house where her family had hunkered down in the basement was buried in rubble. Outstanding.(For the record, I side with those who think that Ida, the owner of the wayward cat, is probably the “friend” referred to... read more
  • Snoop's Ode to Pimps Past, A Tornado Hits Wisteria Lane & More! | Today's Top Videos | 11/30/2007
Snoop's Music Video PremiereThe D.O. Double G is back with a hot new music video, "Sensual Seduction," but we can assure you that you've never seen him like this before. In his ode to pimps past, the Doggfather suits up in what is quite possibly the most absurdly retro video of all time. We're talkin' the whole nine here — sequins, disco balls, even Snoop rockin' full-on chops. Classic.Watch it now!A Twister Hits Wisteria Lane! Watch out, ladies, there's a tornado a-brewin' and it's headed straight for Wisteria Lane. Looks like everyone's going to have to put all those secrets and catfights on hold and take cover. ABC is calling this the "best Desperate Housewives episode ever." That's a bold statement — now let's see if they can back it up this Sunday! Watch it now!Sci Fi's Tin Man Goes Way Beyond the RainbowBrace yourselves for what looks like a seriously insane journey through the Outer Zone (O.Z.). Based on the L. Frank Baum epic tale, Tin Man gives you all the... read more
  • Ask Matt | 10/19/2007
I just recently got into Showtime's Brotherhood and I have to say, I am totally loving it. The whole cast is great, the stories are interesting, and I'm glad Showtime had faith to keep it going after subpar viewership. I should be caught up soon to start Season 2. In another recent addition to my list, I found Dexter this summer and was equally blown away. Michael C. Hall has found another terrific drama after Six Feet Under; I can't wait for what's in store for Dex this year. Add in the sexy .. read more
