High school chemistry teacher Walter White learns he has terminal lung cancer. In order to secure his family’s financial future, he teams up with Jesse Pinkman, a former student, to make meth in an RV. When their first distributor, Krazy-8, tries to double-cross them, Walt kills his right-hand man Emilio with a chemical explosion and later strangles Krazy-8 himself in Jesse’s basement. Jesse flees to his parents’ house to seek refuge from the recent horrors, but is kicked out when his parents discover a joint — which in fact belongs to his younger brother. Walt starts chemotherapy and tells his pregnant wife, Skyler, that he agreed to let Elliott, his wealthy former colleague, help with payments. In fact, he is paying with meth profits. watch

TCA Awards: Orange Is the New Black, Breaking Bad Win Big

There were few surprises at the 30th Annual Television Critics Association Awards. Orange Is the New Black earned Outstanding New Program whileBreaking Bad's final season scored Program of the Year for the second consecutive season.

While last year, Tatiana Maslany beat out favorites like Bryan Cranston to win the Individual Achievement in Drama honors, this year the Orphan Black star got no love from either the TCAs or the Emmys. Instead, Matthew McConaughey took home the award for his work in True Detective, which also got lauded in the Movies, Miniseries and Specials category. Similarly, Veep doubled up its wins with awards for its star and to tie Louie in the Comedy category.

Battle Creek Team on the Show's Breaking Bad Problem

CBS is selling its new midseason drama Battle Creek as being the next project from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan. And while it's not completely untrue, it certainly may give the wrong impression.

Gilligan wrote the script for Battle Creek — which tells the story of Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and his contentious relationship with FBI AgentMilton Chamberlin (Josh Duhamel) when the duo is forced to work together on a case — and pitched it to CBS 12 years ago. In fact, he admitted during a panel at the Television Critics' Association fall previews that it's been so long since he wrote it that he doesn't even remember how he settled on Battle Creek as the setting and title for the show.

"One of my first reactions was, 'Well, how do you keep this show going?' For me, the show is... read more

How Emmy's Controversial Category Choices Paid Off, and This Year's Other Trivia

According to the Emmy Awards ballot, True Detective isn't a miniseries, but Fargo and American Horror Story: Coven are. Orange is the New Black, Nurse Jackie and Shameless are comedies, even though there are frequently more tears than laughs on those shows.

The debate over how to classify shows that defy classification ruffled plenty of feathers during this year's Emmy campaign season. Yet... read more
