Seconds later, she witnesses a hit-and-run outside the school and tears off in hot pursuit. Eventuallly, the two crimes becomes linked as Janine probes the murder of an illegal immigrant who worked as a lap dancer.
With three kids at home and one on the way, Janine earns a promotion and her first big case- the murder of Matthre Tulley, a 42-year old teacher found nearly eviscerated in his garden plot. Ferdie Gibson, Tulley's former student with a longtime grudge, seems the likeliest suspect. But Lesley, the victim's wife arouses Janine's suspicions.
