Celebrities, Beware: TV Guide Network's The Nail Files Vows To Tell It Like It Is

Katie Cazorla may run The Painted Nail, a nail salon that caters to the likes of Teri Hatcher and Hilary Duff, but A-listers expecting special treatment should look elsewhere.

"It doesn't matter if you're a celebrity. If you have jacked-up nails, I'm gonna tell you," Cazorla said Wednesday at the Televisions Critics Association's winter preview session. Viewers may soon get to see that honesty in action when TV Guide Network premieres its new reality series, The Nail Files.

What the heck have they done ...

Question: What the heck have they done to Bravo? The network has been completely destroyed. I loved The West Wing, Project Runway, Inside the Actors Studio — heck, even the first season of Blow Out was mildly diverting. Today, while waiting anxiously for the next season of Runway, I am served a diet of endless marathons of The Real Housewives of Orange County (possibly the most revolting show ever), real estate shows, workout shows, etc. There is no programming but these marathons! The West Wing is never on. My friends who like Top Chef will kill me, but except for the occasional Kathy Griffin special or show, a network I used to watch all the time is never on in my home. Are their ratings actually up? And what happened to NBC having a boutique network arm? Will I ever see Josh and Donna again? Answer: Your primary gripe against Bravo appears to be the fact that The West Wing has been taken out of rotation, which I would guess has something to do with the fact that it probably doesn't ... read more

Reality Worth Watching

Just like everyone else, I have my list of shows I watch on a regular basis. Shows that I'm devoted to and addicted to, shows that have me invested in their characters and story lines. But there's a whole other set that entertain me for a different reason... just as James Lipton says, "What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?" For instance, TLC's Miami Ink is a guilty pleasure of mine that I can't let go of. Because it's easy to catch a rerun almost anytime, I don't worry about when it actually airs, and when I stumble upon an episode of Ami figuring out a sketch or Darren tattooing an amazing snake up someone's leg, I'm completely mesmerized. I don't have any tattoos, and I don't really plan on getting any, but it's something about the artistry of it that amazes me. I know there's a blueprint right in front of them, but these dudes are drawing with needles. C'mon, you'd sit through a marathon of that, right? No, that's only me? OK, moving on....Now, I roll my ... read more

Blow Out Host Preps a New Mane Event

He's been in the styling business for over 20 years, but it is as a result of his own reality series, now entering its third season, that Jonathan Antin's name is fast becoming synonymous with great hair. In Bravo's Blow Out (premiering tonight at 9 pm/ET), the California-based stylist offers an inside look at what it's like maintaining his two successful Jonathan salons — in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills — allowing viewers to experience the ups and downs he faces while juggling business ventures, product-line expansions and, most recently, fatherhood.  In addition to showcasing the daily happenings at his salons, Antin allows cameras to document his therapy sessions, company meetings regarding his Jonatha read more

The fun (and confusion) never...

The fun (and confusion) never stops as the networks continue scrambling their schedules, with a new wave of mid-season changes kicking in the instant the Olympics and February sweeps conclude. As a helpful guide to get you through the exhausting month of March, here's a night-by-night rundown of what to expect (until the next changes are announced): March 1: After a 90-minute American Idol, Fox airs a preview of quasi-improvised slacker sitcom Free Ride (it will regularly air on Sundays starting March 12, replacing American Dad for a while). Invasion is preempted for the annual Oscar-themed Barbara Walters Special, which for the first time is not airing on Oscar night. March 2: read more
