The first attempt to turn Chic Young's comic strip about a bumbling family man into a sitcom. The strip, which debuted in 1930 (and is still going strong) first spawned a successful movie series (28 films over 12 years). Arthur Lake reprised his Dagwood Bumstead movie role in this series, but the magic was gone, and so was the show after just 26 episodes.
