Billy ventures through the isolated White Pass Mountains, where he learns how to stake a claim on a piece of the Yukon, hunts for moose, observes a bear and participates in a ceremony at a sweat lodge. He also spends time with some real cowboys and plays lumberjack to fell a tree.
Billy takes a cruise ship on an eight-day jaunt through the Northwest Passage and spends time with locals from that remote and removed region. He learns how the explorers in the area lived and died, and then hitches a ride south with an ice-road trucker and pans for gold at a former gold-rush site.
Actor-comedian Billy Connolly travels by boat, motorbike, airplane and automobile along the coasts of Canada and stops in towns where European immigrants first settled. Among the places visited: an iceberg and a graveyard for victims of the Titanic. During his journey, he dodges moose along the Cabot Trail and meets a man who makes scarecrows for a living.
