April 9, 2008 (Eviction 9)

It was a great run, but luck ran out for James as he was evicted from the Big Brother house by a vote of 3-0. I'm sad to see such a warrior go because he managed to stir up some strategy-related drama and general naughtiness. However, I'm anxious to see the ridiculous "Team Christ," headed by resident "angel" Natalie, start to turn on one another and show their true colors. How could Natalie think if she got to the final two with anyone left in the house that she would win? Did she not notice Sharon is still there and no one finds her as annoying as Natalie? Or that Ryan and Adam are well-liked by many of the remaining house guests? Now that James is gone, I want to see Natalie gone next. She's getting way too confident. Add that too her constant babbles about Team Christ and the "evil-doers" and she's closing in on Amber as the most obnoxious person in Big Brother history. I'm just glad the rest of the house guests aren't buying her BS. I can't believe she tried to turn her "girl p... read more

My, how the mighty have fallen. Though Crazy James has repeatedly saved himself when the pressure was on, this week he fell short in a do-or-die situation, and as such, is most likely on his way to the jury house. After Adam honored his word to James (which he later admitted was probably because he got caught up in James' sob story), Sheila went on a rampage reminiscent of her first week in the house. She felt betrayed by her ally and former partner, but she has to realize that at some point everyone has to start playing for themselves. I (and Sheila agreed later) believe that Adam's nominations were the best thing for him, and even though he regretted the move, it ultimately did give the house a chance to finally seal James' fate.Adam really came out the best in this situation. Although he initially stirred the pot, at the end of this HOH reign, things will have basically ended up they way his alliance had wanted all along. Plus, even though James said he was playing to win, I thin... read more

I've always thought Adam was an odd individual, but I loved his nomination speech. James did an impressive job of persuading Adam to keep him off the block, but Adam spun it in such a way that he actually made a good point: If they want James out so bad, they should get him out themselves. James never did anything to Adam. It was a risky move and has upset his entire alliance, but maybe this will be good for the game. Maybe the power is shifting. Sheila is not going to be a peach for him to deal with this week, especially since she's up against eternal pawn Sharon. Maybe this will inspire both girls to get fired up enough to win something. However, if I'm Adam I'd say this would be a perfect week to flip. He should be sensing that Natalie and Ryan are more loyal to each other than to him and that he could be the odd person out. If the veto is won by someone who will use it, he could put up someone from his alliance and turn this game around. At the very least, it'd be excellent tele... read more

It was a valiant effort, but all his scheming and plotting didn't keep Josh from being evicted 3-1 from the Big Brother house. His speech was pretty impressive considering he was most likely shocked by the eviction. I've given him a hard time in this blog, but I'm sure on the outside he isn't the person we saw screaming at everyone. I enjoyed loving to hate him. As much as I think this was the right move, I can't help but wonder if keeping Sharon will eventually be a mistake for some of the house guests. She hasn't shown much drive to take control and play the game, but she could surprise everyone. I never was a big Josh fan but I can't say I blamed him for pulling out all the stops to stay in the game. Even though he sold Sharon down the river, we shouldn't have expected him to just lie down and give up because it's the nice thing to do. His means were ruthless but I understood his ends. He had a point in making Sharon out to be a threat. Who wants to be sitting next to her in the ... read more

Today may have been April Fool's Day, but there were very few laughs in tonight's episode. In fact, I don't think I've seen that many tears in the Big Brother house since Whamber was evicted last season. But before James, Joshuah, Sharon and Sheila opened up the floodgates, the show did get off to a pretty explosive start. After Sheila gave James an inspirational pep talk (which made no sense to me at all), she then doubled back and gave Joshuah a very similar speech while also trashing James. Although I have floated back and in my opinion of James, I wasn't really sucked in by his "poor, pitiful me-against-the-world" attitude. Yes, the whole house is against him, but he created that scenario by double-crossing the person in power and continually winning important competitions.(Come on James, just deal with the fact that smart players want the threatening player out of the running.) I did, however, respect his continuing desire to call people on their two-faced play. And unlike som... read more

And so the reign of Natalie begins. I must say that I have always believed Natalie was kind of dumb. Between the 27-letter alphabet stunt and her silly theories, I didn't give her much of chance. But she did win a mental competition in the clutch, so I am willing to give her another chance. Though she did do some bone-headed things in tonight's episode (like leaving her knee hanging out when playing HIde and Seek. Regardless, she still cracks me up. Between stalking Matt's picture and incessantly talking to herself, she's always good for some kind of laugh. I guess we will continue to see if she is indeed "playing dumb," as she suggested in the diary room.It seems that the "Bible Buddies" have spread their holiness to their teammates, forming "Team Christ." It's a risky moniker in a game known for hypocrisy and deceit, but I'm sure after being isolated for 50+ days, something (be it faith of $500,000) has to keep you going. Maybe it was the "holy spirit" that Adam mentioned that go... read more

If there's one thing Chelsia will go down in Big Brother history for, it's using the word "breastfeed" in her eerily strange pre-vote speech. It wasn't a shock that Chelsia was evicted, but that exit was. It was the worst exit ever! Talk about bitter and immature. Even DJC didn't know what to say to her. I figured she'd get a few digs in, but that was a tirade. I loved every crazy, embarrassing minute of it! James surprised me. He couldn't even throw her a sympathy vote? Since they have been quite active in the bedroom lately, it would have been nice. He may have slipped below Matt on the low class scale with that move.Oh what do you know — there was another "Natalie is stupid" segment. I'm torn between thinking that CBS has nothing else to show or that she really does so many dumb things they have to show it. I'm guessing it's the latter. Oddly next to Chelsia, Natalie looked like the rational one. I completely understand how you can lose it in that house, but she was freakin... read more

Although I think Adam's original nominations were the correct choices, it's beginning to look like the only way to get James out of the house is by back-dooring him. It's too bad that when Ryan successfully did just that, Big Brother brought him back into the game. Tonight, the pink-haired phenom continued to prove himself to be this season's fiercest competitor by once again winning the power of veto. Given his winning streak and uncanny ability to save himself, he's starting to remind of James from Big Brother 6 and Big Brother All Stars. The one flaw in James' game at the moment is his obsession with vengeance. He was the guy who during his first HOH rule with Chelsia told his competitors it's just a game. Ever since he almost lost his chance at 500,000, he hasn't seemed to buy into that philosphy. Last week he was on a mission to repay Ryan and Matt for their attempt to evict him, and this week, he's done nothing but gripe about Adam putting him on the block. Hey James, when you... read more

After a weekend of basketball and bunnies, I was ready to settle in for a nice, comfortable episode of Big Brother. Since my NCAA pool was already down the pooper and my stomach full of candy and ham, watching BB brought me back to reality. So let's "hop" to this recap, m'kay? I'm exhausted!I loved seeing Matt get evicted again. See ya! Even better? James said the house guests were stupid for voting him back. Natalie must have been regretting her decision big time. Not only did she bring him back, she dropped in the HOH after making a deal with him. Brilliant. People get all bent out of shape when the house guests lie and go back on their word, but I love it. Isn't that the point? So Adam was the new HOH and was already complaining about making decisions and, go figure, actually playing the game. Go home then! He said he didn't want to win but he jumped on that buzzer when he could have let Chelsia have it. And you know what, he should have. He wouldn't have been her target. All he ... read more

Well, Matt’s been saying since the beginning of the season that you “cant trust the kid with the pink hair,” and last night proved without a doubt that those words were true. After this season’s first tied vote, the fate of nominees Ryan and Matt came down to Head of Household James’ tie-breaking decision. I guess that’s fitting since James has made pretty much all the decisions in the house this week. So, for his final act as HOH, James evicted Matt, sending him right out the same back door that James walked through one week ago. I have to give Matt some credit for turning what could have been a 5-1 vote into a tie. Again using his ability to work everyone (well Sheila, at least) he made a convincing argument that he was less threatening than his “boy” Ryan. While what Matt said was mostly true, Ryan has played a more straight-up game. He may have crossed more people, but he hasn’t lied nearly as much as Matt. Even though Sharon wasn... read more
