Premise: Butler Benson carries his mordant wit over to a new job in this `Soap' spin-off, working for a widowed governor with a precocious daughter. The sitcom ran for seven seasons. Robert Guillaume was nominated for an Emmy in five of them and won for the 1984-85 season. He also won a Supporting Emmy in the role in `Soap' the season before `Benson' debuted. In the 1980-81 season, Jerry Seinfeld was featured in some episodes as Frankie.
