Jim Bouton was a 20-game winner, but this sitcom based on his book quickly got the hook. While Bouton's 'Ball Four' excited readers and irked his ex-Yankee teammates, his participation here as writer and actor couldn't save the show, in which the pitcher's character---Jim Barton---was also a writer focusing on players' lives.
