The Bachelorette Episode Recap: Week 9 Season 7, Episode 9

Ashley arrives in Fiji, reflecting on her Bachelorette journey thus far. She says she definitely finds herself finding true love on the beautiful island. We look back at the past few weeks and how Ashley's relationships with Ben, J.P. and Constantine have grown.

Ben's date is up first, but wait, it's not Ben, it's a surprise (like we didn't see this coming) visit from Ryan. He thinks there are things left unsaid and unexplored, so of course traveling to the other side of the world to surprise her is the best way to accomplish that, right? They sit on the couch together, where Ryan lays it all out and says, "Call me crazy, but when I stepped out of that limo for the first time, we had something there ... I'm here for a couple more days, if you want to spend more time together, I'm here... you look great, by the way." He gets a hug and is on his way, where he'll wait for Ashley's decision.

Now it's really Ben's date. They take a yacht ride and Ben wastes no time before lathering Ashley up with sunscreen. Ashley soon gets in on the action and the two are pretty much all over each other on the open water. That evening Ben and Ashley have a romantic dinner outdoors. Ben decides that he loves her and plans to tell her on the date. He starts talking about taking leaps of faith and taking risks until he finally spits it out, sort of: "I'm on my way to the whole 'I love you' thing." Ashley soon pulls out the fantasy suite card and there's no doubt what they're going to do. They go to the amazingly awesome suite and hit the hot tub ... and then the bedroom.

Ashley (who is barely clothed this episode) is ready to meet Constantine for their date, which begins with a helicopter ride. Next, they're off to a waterfall before they settle in for a picnic. Ashley asks Constantine how many houses he looked at back at home before buying, comparing homes to women. She also has trouble reading him, which isn't a good sign.

The nighttime portion of the date includes a candlelit dinner. "Here's to tonight and hopefully having a lot of time together," Ashley says. Ben shows up after they taste the wine, which reminds Constantine that he and his friend are dating the same girl — and he doesn't seem bothered by it. All of the sudden, Constantine says he's not there with Ashley and is leaving. He didn't feel it was going to the next level.

Ashley meets Ryan to give him his answer and she knows exactly what she's going to do. She tells him that if she were to write down what she was looking for, he would be it, but unfortunately her feelings don't match with her heart. "I think you're one of the best guys I've ever met in my life ... but I didn't feel that passion and I found that with two people."  Ryan doesn't get his fairytale ending.

The final date is with J.P. and Ashley practically runs into his arms when she sees him. They take off in a seaplane to a private island. J.P. can't say enough how much he wants the journey to be over. "When I look at Ashley, I see the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with," J.P. says. Their evening date is in the middle of the jungle. J.P. is still hung up on the other guys, and that's when Ashley says she said goodbye to two guys this week. She tells him that Constantine is gone and that Ryan came back. He's happy, but Ashley urges him not to get hung up on her other relationship. While he's still afraid of getting hurt, J.P. says he's close to overcoming that fear. Ashley pulls out the fantasy suite card and J.P. is blushing, but says yes. Ashley gets "changed," and they pretty much pounce on each other.

Ashley chats with Chris about the week. The only notable thing she says is that it was harder to say goodbye to Ryan than Constantine, because he's such a good guy. (And perhaps because he wasn't the one to dump her.)

Although there are two roses and two guys, Ashley still wants a rose ceremony where the guys accept and prove they want to be there.  "I want you guys more than ever to think about it and see if you feel you're on the path to getting engaged," she tells them. It's no surprise, though, that they both happily accept.
