The Bachelor Episode Recap: Week Four Season 15, Episode 4

The claws come out on The Bachelor, and Michelle mysteriously wakes up with a black eye she claims appeared overnight. What?

Chantal is the first to get the one-on-one date with Brad this week and they set out in a private helicopter to the ocean. She is terrified upon learning they'll be walking on the sea floor, but she sucks it up and it doesn't take long for Chantal to soak it in and enjoy the moment as the two wander the ocean bottom with smoke monster-looking creatures in their wake. Afterward, the two share their own private villa on the water where Brad asks Chantal if she can talk about her previous marriage. She doesn't exactly address why it ended, but instead talks about what she wants out of a marriage now. This openness and an apology for her notorious Night 1 slap, gets Chantal a rose.

Back at the house, Michelle continues her road to crazy possessiveness, freaking out that she can't eat or sleep. She's left alone while the other girls set out for their group date to the Dr. Drew show. The subject of cheating comes up right away and Brad says he's never cheated on a woman, while Stacey (I don't know who she is either) admits that she has. Later on it's hot tub time and Ashley H starts whining about not getting alone time with our Bachelor. Britt, who could possibly be a dark horse, admits to Brad she gets shy around him because she's intimidated and his response is to have an intense makeout sesh with her. Just as they're wrapping things up, Ashley H pops up creepily in the background to tell Brad that it would be easier to take a step back. He says he won't let her. As the group reconvenes, and Brad is about to give Ashley H the rose, until she comments upon the awkwardness of the situation. Brad instead pulls Britt aside to give her the rose clearly meant for Ashley.

Michelle learns that she's getting a one-on-one date, but the house gets tense when Brad shows up to talk to Ashley H first about how the group date had ended. Brad confesses that he's still into her before going to get Michelle, who's chomping at the bit to go on her date.

Brad and Michelle take another helicopter ride and land on a building downtown where they're going to rappel to the pool below. Talk about frightening. The couple gets up the nerve to begin their descent and of course share a kiss on the side of the building where a camera man happens to be inside the right floor to get the shot. When they reach the bottom, they jump in the pool fully clothed. Over dinner Brad tells Michelle he wants to meet her daughter, and Michelle says that she doesn't see him with any of the girls but her. She gets a rose.

During the cocktail hour, Brad talks to Meghan (another girl we haven't seen much of). He wants to go deeper with her, but she admits she has a wall up.  Bachelor 101 -- Don't admit you're not open to the guy looking for love. Next, Brad pulls Emily aside for a romantic picnic he prepared for her that re-creates their amazing vineyard date. Finally, Chantal tells Brad she's going to trust that he's man enough to get to where he needs to be at the end of everything. Brad is clearly taken with her.

At the rose ceremony, Ashley S, Alli, Emily, Shawntel, Lisa, Jackie, Marissa, and Ashley H all receive roses. Bye, Meghan, Lindsay and Stacey. Are you happy with Brad's choices?

Premise: True love (or a TV facsimile thereof) gets the reality treatment in this long-running dating game, in which a successful bachelor romances a number of beauties. The list of possible paramours is reduced each week until he gives a final red rose to one of them. The series spun off 'The Bachelorette', a spate of rip-offs and very few lasting pairings.
