Disney Channel's "Freaky Freakend" programming stunt kicks off Friday night with body swapping-themed episodes of hit series A.N.T. Farm, Jessie, Gravity Falls and Phineas and Ferb. Episodes of Dog with a Blog, Austin & Ally and Shake It Up continue the fun on Sunday.
Kristen Stewart was a big winner Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards Saturday, as she took home awards for Favorite Movie Actress for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 and Favorite Female Buttkicker for Snow White and the Huntsman.
Though Stewart admitted she was afraid to accept the awards out of fear of being slimed, she escaped mostly unscathed. The same couldn't be said for other celebrities, including Sandra Bullock, Neil Patrick Harris and Nick Cannon, Josh Hutcherson and Amanda Seyfried were covered in green goo before the night was over.
Disney Channel and Radio Disney are looking for the next big youth pop sensation. The sister cable and radio networks will launch the fifth season of their music talent competition, N.B.T. (Next Big Thing) next month during the original TV-movie Girl vs. Monster (airing Friday, Oct. 12 at 8/7c).
Among the prizes for this year's winner: A performance on the Disney Channel sitcom Austin & Ally; a single release through Disney Music Group; and a slot along side Radio Disney recording artists at the N.B.T. finale concert.
Disney Channel's music-themed comedy Austin & Ally will be back for a second season on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 8:30/7:30c.
In the premiere episode, "Costumes & Courage," Austin is invited to perform a duet with a famous pop star at his new record label owner's Halloween party. But when the star can't sing, Ally steps in.
Move over, Macarena. Disney Channel is hoping to start a new dance craze timed to "Platypus Day," a holiday created by the cable network to celebrate Perry the Platypus, the teal-colored, duck-billed secret agent from Phineas and Ferb.
This year's Platypus Day, which takes place on Saturday, March 3, will feature the introduction of "The Platypus Walk," a surf-rock tune that comes with an accompanying dance choreographed by Rosero McCoy (Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam). The song will debut today on Radio Disney, and Disney Channel's website will include a tutorial to the dance.
