Premise

Recalling the August 1941 meeting between FDR and Winston Churchill aboard naval ships moored off Newfoundland that led to U.S. involvement in WWII, and provided the framework for the post-war end of European colonialism. "It would reshape history," says narrator Paul Herlinger. Not surprisingly, it didn't go smoothly, in spite of the personal rapport that developed between the two leaders. The reason: Churchill desperately wanted the U.S. in the war but didn't want to give up Britain's empire.
