As the World Turns fans, our wish...

As the World Turns fans, our wish is granted! Italian stallion Paolo Seganti — who played Lily's ex-husband, Damian Grimaldi — reports back to work on the CBS soap's set in mid-April. That means Damian will return to Oakdale just in time for May sweeps.

"Part of what interested me in coming back is that my son Luke (Van Hansis) is gay," Seganti tells TVGuide.com. "This story line is so different, and that's cool."

Between ATWT stints, Seganti has done film work in Europe and spent quality time with his family on their 20-acre property in Tuscany. "Martha Byrne (Lily) and I are still best buddies. She's always asking me to come back, and one day I got a call from [executive producer] Chris Goutman," he says. "I could stay for th read more

Scoop! There's an As the World...

Scoop! There's an As the World Turns audition script floating around that features a scene between Lucy Montgomery and her devious daddy, Craig. Oh sure, the script calls them "Lauren" and "James," but since she calls him "Daddy" and he calls her "Lullabye" and "Sweetness" — Craig's pet names for his daughter — this soap spy is not fooled.

So is ATWT replacing pretty Peyton List, the ex-Lucy who's off seeking her fortune in prime-time TV? And might Hunt Block return as currently incarcerated Craig? "We are recasting Lucy and you can look for her sometime this summer," the show's rep confirms to TVGuide.com. "There are no plans for Craig at this time." read more

Due to Ted King's emergency throat...

Ted King and Jay Pickett, General Hospital

Due to Ted King's emergency throat surgery this month, General Hospital was forced to temporarily recast the role of Mafia boss Lorenzo Alcazar. King's last airdate is March 22. Port Charles star Jay Pickett — who played paramedic-turned-vampire Frank Scanlon — then steps into Lorenzo's Gucci loafers for three episodes on March 23, 24 and 27. GH viewers can expect King to reprise his role (with a noticeably raspy voice) on March 28.

It's not uncustomary for GH to recast a front-burner hunk on medical leave. Last year Chris Beetem (ex-Jordan, As the World Turns) played Nikolas while Tyler Christopher recovered from a broken arm. For the talented Pickett, this temp job was a golden opportunity.

"I got a call that Ted Ki read more

No way! As the World Turns actress...

No way! As the World Turns actress Alexandra Chando (Maddie) will appear on one of my fave reality-TV guilty pleasures, MTV's True Life. Chando's episode, entitled True Life: I'm Getting My Big Break, will offer an inside look at what it's like to be a teen soap starlet. OK, so this installment doesn't sound quite as temptingly salacious as others — like True Life: I'm a Slut or True Life: I'm Obese — but we should still tune in and support a daytime girl. (Although it was originally slated to air March 15, MTV has just rescheduled this episode to air sometime in May.) read more

If you're wondering why Daytime...

If you're wondering why Daytime Emmy nominee Grayson McCouch hasn't been seen on As the World Turns much lately, it's because he's taken a few weeks off to audition for prime-time pilots in L.A., just like Mark Collier (Mike) did. Thus, his Dusty character will be presumed dead as of next week. No doubt the handsome Mr. McCouch — that's pronounced McCootch, not McCouch like the furniture — will pop up alive before long. read more

Did you know As the World Turns...

Jesse Lee Soffer and Jennifer Landon, As the World Turns

Did you know As the World Turns toasts a half-century of daytime television on April 2? "I don't want to go too epic on you," says Ellen Dolan (Margo), "but it's incredible that our show has been in American homes for 50 years. What a milestone!"

ATWT isn't waiting until spring to celebrate its birthday, though, since the CBS sudser just snapped up a slew of Daytime Emmy nominations, including outstanding drama, outstanding writing team and five acting nods.

"When I heard my name [announced] on The View, I was in shock," enthuses Jennifer Landon (Gwen), who's a shoo-in to win outstanding younger actress. "Mom was so happy. She didn't even say any words. She just screamed!" No doubt her father — the late, great Michael Landon — would be a proud papa, too.

"I was happy Jennifer was nominated because it would be read more
