Premise: A seven-part 1987 cautionary saga set in 1997 America 10 years after a bloodless Soviet takeover was drawn from a column penned by conservative columnist Ben Stein---yes, the later host of `Win Ben Stein's Money.' The miniseries centered on former political activist Devin Milford, released from a Texas gulag; patriotic pragmatist Peter Bradford; and powerful KGB colonel Andrei Denisov.
