Things heat up between the models at home after Celia throws Tahlia under the bus and the girls take sides. Beth Stern stops by to help teach the ladies learn how use their facial expression to convey emotions. For their photo shoots, the girls have to embody a color.
This week's episode picks up where we left off last time when Celia sold out Tahlia to Tyra about not being emotionally invested in the competition. Back at the house, Celia explains she doesn't regret her actions to a few girls, and then Sandra tries to stir the pot by telling Tahlia, Aminat and Teyona that it was actually a group of them plotting this. Next thing you know Aminat and Teyona start verbally attacking Allison and Natalie. Meanwhile the two who should be fighting, Tahlia and Celia, just observe. Tahlia eventually joins in giving a speech about why she wants to be there. But when Natalie starts to mock Tahlia's attempt to justify why she now wants to stay, Aminat gets all sorts of fired up and gets in her face. And the best quote of the night by far: "Y'all have put new meaning to bitches and backstabbing." Nice alliteration Tahl!
For their challenge, the girls get dropped off in an ally with Jay and some faceless mannequins and learn they are going to work on facial expressions. They enter a warehouse and Beth Stern helps each girl practice in front of the mirror. And then comes the scariest thing yet. Each girl is challenged with sticking their faces into two life-size Tyra posters with the faces cut out. The goal: to recreate the emotion Tyra expressed based on her body language. Everyone pretty much tanks except Natalie and London, who goes two-for-two. Natalie wins for bringing the most diversity and gets extra frames for her shoot.
Back at the house, Tahlia and Celia have an adult conversation where Tahlia explains she was embarrassed, and Celia explains her intentions and apologizes. Celia is fairly certain she's getting the boot for her big mouth.
For their photo shoot, the girls have a different powder shades splashed on their faces and have to emote that color. Allison gets pink and goes for the girlie look, but she's too afraid to give a genuine emotion. Her picture comes out great but it's identical to all her other big-eyed straight on shots. Girl needs to smile once in a while. Aminat gets green and the judges love it. Tahlia tries to be flirty-seductive with her violet — don't see how that fits with her color but it worked for the judges. Her eyes did look amazing. Nigel brings up the Celia thing as well and gives her a vote of confidence in saying she deserves to be there. Celia gets grey and impresses with her relaxed face even though she's convinced she's going. Teyona has yellow, and though she can't smile to save her life, they get a shot that captures "hope" and looks good. Fo has red and does a fiery-hot pic that Tyra is all about. London gets blue and the judges think it's the same look as last week. I think her powder placement was just awful to start with. Natalie gets orange and goes for throbbing passion, but her shot doesn't have enough "angel" to it. It is actually a game changing picture for Tyra, who no longer sees her in the top. Sandra gets white and goes for a peaceful, straight-on shot, but the judges don't get anything out of it.
The winner is Fo. Why? Because she smiled with her eyes of course. The bottom two is Sandra (again) and Celia. Sandra can't do a straight-on shot. Celia is there for throwing Tahlia under the bus. And the one to stay is Celia.
Obviously I'm thrilled I don't have to listen to her smug attitude anymore. I do love how she left still flapping her gums about how great she is. As far as the Celia thing goes, I can't say I was shocked to see her in the bottom two, but she does too well to have been sent home. Nor do I think the fact she tattled should have been the reason for her departure. I hate when people lose reality competitions over stupidity instead of based on their performances. What did you think of Sandra going? Should Celia have got more than a slap on the wrist? Discuss!
