America's Next Top Model Episode Recap: "Take My Photo, Tyra!" Season 13, Episode 4

Lulu got the boot last week, so which mini-model will follow in her footsteps?

After some chit-chat, the girls get a Tyra mail that says, "Sometimes you only have a minute to make a second impression." This not so cryptic message ends up being a one-on-one make-up lesson from renowned make-up artist, Sam Fine. He teaches them the importance of being able to do their own make-up for casting calls, and also how to do a great job quickly for last minute auditions.

After their lesson, the girls are greeted by Nigel Barker and his wife outside of a Walmart and he tells them about the challenge that lies ahead for them. They will have to race through four different stations in Walmart trying to create the best look in the least amount of time. However, as always, there is a catch. The girls have to put on specific items, but there are fewer items than there are girls. The winner of the mad dash will receive their photo on the Cover Girl page of Walmart.com and a $1,000 Walmart gift card.

The girls run off to their first station: clothes. Laura is out first — clearly running is not her specialty. Erin grabs at the other girls, furiously trying to make her way to the front of the pack. She really does look like she is playing football. At the shoe station, Nicole and Jennifer are eliminated. Brittany and Rae are eliminated next at the makeup station.

It comes down to Erin, Ashley, Bianca, and Sundai. The girls have to put on make-up and then find their picture in a basket and race to the finish line. Erin grabs a bunch of pictures, one of which is Ashley's. She holds onto the picture until she finds her own and then crumbles Ashley's picture so she will be eliminated. Ashley is pretty ticked off about Erin's cheater-like behavior.

Bianca, Erin, and Sundai make it to judging. Sundai is praised for her rosy cheeks, Erin's look is called bland, and Bianca is praised for her eyelashes, but criticized for heavy concealer. Sundai is chosen as the winner because of her glowing look and so she receives the Walmart gift card and her photo on the website.

Back at the house, another Tyra mail arrives. This one reads, "Tomorrow you'll have to wrap your head around this competition." The girls think this means their going to wear headscarves, and they're right!

On the ride to the shoot, the girls talk about how beat up they are from the race. They are clearly being passive aggressive toward Erin, but Erin was physically aggressive toward them so I guess it's fair. Erin begins to cry as the girls start showing off their 'battle scars.'

At the shoot, the concept is mastering a beauty shot — or a close up of the face. Tyra says that this type of shot is especially ideal for a short model because the body is not shown. This shoot will also feature headscarves draped on or over the girls' heads.

Surprisingly, this photo shoot marks the introduction of a new twist. The girl with strongest photo is determined the same day, and will be safe from elimination. She will also get an extra prize.

The girls go into hair and makeup and they emerge beautified. Laura looks sweet in pink colors but Tyra tries to fix her hanging bottom lip because it looks plain silly, not sexy.  Sundai also has trouble relaxing her lips, but once she parts them, she looks less forced.  Jennifer asks Tyra if she can scream, which puts a different emotion in her shots than usual. Brittany's head is covered in a scarf, yet Tyra says she is shining through amazingly. Bianca struggles again to reduce her "hard" appearance during the shoot.  Rae looks like an ice goddess and her face is sweet and angelic. Tyra says Kara has one of her favorite faces, but at the shoot, she brings no energy. Erin models well, but Tyra feels like she has no personality. Nicole is always modelesque, but awkwardly positions her hands.

Then it comes time for Ashley to take the set. She is the girl Tyra discovered in attendance at one of her talk show tapings. At the shoot, Tyra repeatedly changes Ashley's scarf and outfit. She is unsure if it is the look, and begins to realize it is Ashley she is having the problem with.

Brittany is chosen as the best photo. She will be immune from elimination and will also get to star in an impromptu photo shoot for Tyra Banks' website alongside two male models.

As always, it is judging time. China Chow, a petite model is this week's guest judge. Brittany is up first. She is safe from elimination for this week and her picture is interesting, but seriously, she has a scarf on her face. How is that the best photo? Erin always looks modelesque but no offense, because I love the picture, but doesn't she sort of look like a creepy version of an Olsen twin?  Kara and Ashley are criticized for not being "fully present" in their shots. Laura looks like a Renaissance painting, and Rae looks like an angel (again). Bianca looks tense and uncomfortable in her face, but her body is well-posed. Nicole and Sundai look simple and pretty. Jennifer's shot is fierce, but in a weird and unique way

The judges deliberate.

Jennifer wins best photo. I'll give it to her — it was fierce! The bottom two comes down to Ashley and Bianca (yet again). Tyra questions if Bianca can overcome the hardness that takes over when the camera is out and if Ashley can get it together for the next shoot, since she was the hardest girl to photograph. Ultimately, Ashley is given a chance to get her act together with the next photographer and so Bianca is sent home.

Sorry Bianca, this week you truly were unlucky. If it were a fitness shoot, you would have stood out. Someone's got to go, though!  'Til next week...

Premise: Aspiring models compete for a chance to break into the business in this runaway hit. Created and executive-produced by supermodel Tyra Banks, its formula of beautiful women plus unappealing behavior make it enormously popular and one of the more intriguing reality shows, with its wannabe cover girls living together in a house and, between catfights, going out on photo shoots while they vie for a modeling contract.
