The Girls Go on Go-See Adventures Season 9, Episode 11

Greetings one and all! I hope everyone had a nice holiday gathering with family and friends while enjoying some Thanksgiving goodies. What am I thankful for this year you ask? Having a job that gives me an outlet for all of my Top Model angst week after week. And the way things have been going this season, I've got plenty to say. As I mentioned in an earlier blog entry, every cycle it seems the girl I'm rooting for never makes it far in the competition. I don't know...maybe I don't see what the judges see or maybe the judges are just off their rockers. Either way, after Lisa's dismissal last week I've pretty much given up in trying to pick the winner. It seems to be anyone's game right now but if the producers were smart they'd keep Bianca and Heather for the final two. Talk about drama! Now onto this week's show. This week, the ladies started out talking about the previous elimination. Chantal believed that Heather being fed her lines should have been her ticket back to the US and Jenah expressed her annoyance that the competition seems to be more about personality than modeling ability. Both good points but if they were true than Bianca's negative attitude and refusal to participate in the challenge would have at least put her in the bottom two last week. It wasn't long before a Tyramail revealed what we all knew was coming this week, the go-sees! The ladies were off on a scavenger hunt across Shanghai hoping to make good impressions on the city's top fashion designers. Saleisha confessing her preference for the t-shirt and jeans look didn't impress designer Lu Kun but it was Chantal's decision to wear bright pink underwear that really seemed to bother him. It was Jenah however, who seemed to win his vote when he compared her to Christy Turlington. Over at House of Mercury, Bianca wowed designer Stephen Peng with her friendly (?) personality. All the while, Heather had trouble finding her first designer. She finally arrived at the office of Flora Zeta but judging by how much time she wasted and her less than stellar performance, her future wasn't looking too bright. In the end, Saleisha and Bianca were the only girls to return to the modeling agency with time to spare causing the rest of the girls to be disqualified. In the end, Bianca was the victor and I gotta say I was happy that she finally won a challenge. Despite my feelings on her personality, there is no denying that she is a beautiful girl and her face looked amazing on that billboard. The next day, the models had a photo shoot with Nigel Barker where they needed to stand out among brightly colored lions and dragons. As Nigel gave the girls some helpful advice, Jenah made some remarks which the other girls felt came off a bit unprofessional. I, on the other hand, felt like she came off as being unaffected by Nigel's judge status which is exactly what he asked the girls to do. Unfortunately for her, that bubbly, confident personality didn't carry over into her shoot and she failed to impress both Nigel and Mr. Jay. Heather also seemed to buckle under the pressure while Saleisha and the rest of the girls critiqued her from the sidelines. Aside from Saleisha who turned things around for herself in this shoot, the rest of the girls weren't really in any position to be making comments. Half of being a model is managing to work with what you're given and none of those girls succeeded in my opinion but that's a decision for the judges to make. As the girls lined up in front of the panel for another send-off, Tyra gave a brief lecture on the importance of showing up to a gig on time. When Jenah stepped up to the plate, Nigel had some choice words for her regarding her sarcasm and how it can be taken as arrogance. Saleisha won praises for her amazing photo as did Heather despite fouling up most of her shoot. The judges chose Jenah and Heather for the bottom two. Despite taking amazing pictures throughout the competition, both were picked because of their actions outside of the photo shoots. Tyra flipped over Jenah's photo revealing that Heather's time had finally come. Based on how much camera time she had gotten messing up over the last few weeks, it wasn't all that surprising. I'm sure everyone has a lot to say about Tyra's decision this week. I, for one, support it. Heather took some amazing pictures but at this point in the competition, that just isn't enough. By the way, has anyone else noticed that she has won the model of the week contest almost every week this season? Clearly she was the audience favorite. Who's gonna get that vote now? I'm thinking Saleisha. She's taken that crappy haircut a long way! However, as I mentioned earlier, I'm completely baffled about who the judges are eyeing to win. Next week, as the ladies head off to Beijing we are entering the home stretch. With just 4 girls left and the audience favorite gone, it truly is anyone's game. Thoughts? show less

Premise: Aspiring models compete for a chance to break into the business in this runaway hit. Created and executive-produced by supermodel Tyra Banks, its formula of beautiful women plus unappealing behavior make it enormously popular and one of the more intriguing reality shows, with its wannabe cover girls living together in a house and, between catfights, going out on photo shoots while they vie for a modeling contract.
