Lifetime Revives Betty White's Off Their Rockers

Betty White

After being canceled by NBC in July, Lifetime has given new life to Betty White's Off Their Rockers.

The cable network has ordered 20 half-hour episodes of the hidden camera series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A sign of things to come? Boardwalk Empire won a leading seven awards at the Creative Arts Emmys.

Lifetime Picks Up America's Most Wanted

Lifetime has acquired America's Most Wanted for its 25th season, the network announced Tuesday.

This summer, Fox announced it was dropping America's Most Wanted — which has captured more than 1,100 fugitives, including 17 on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List — as a regular series. Instead, the network would air quarterly two-hour specials.

"There's smoke in the air and I can see it and taste it," Jason Clarke says with reverence in his voice. He's recalling one of the many ride-alongs he was on with Chicago law enforcement in preparation to play a detective on The Chicago Code, Fox's new cop drama from The Shield creator Shawn Ryan. "Our car pulls up and there's a guy on the ground. He's been shot. It's nighttime. We're outside a church. My heart is pounding and my mind is going, 'What the hell am I doing here?'"

Premise: Criminals get publicity they don't want in this long-running series, which has been responsible for more than 1100 captures and was an anchor of Fox's Saturday-night lineup for almost a quarter-century before moving to Lifetime in December 2011. It features re-creations of crimes and interviews with law-enforcement personnel, and there's a number for viewers to call with leads. Host John Walsh got involved in fighting crime after his 6-year-old son, Adam, was murdered in 1981.
