Ratings: Scandal Hits Finale High; Community, Parenthood Up

Scandal

No one died in the explosion, but Scandal went out with a huge bang Thursday.

The Season 3 finale drew 10.5 million viewers and a 3.4 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, making it the show's most-watched and highest-rated season-ender yet. Scandal finished Season 3 up 39 percent in viewership and 43 percent in the demo. The episode followed Grey's Anatomy (8.1 million, 2.5), which was down a tenth.

American Idol: Did the Contestants Sabotage Each Other on Competitors' Pick Night?

American Idol

It's Competitors' Pick Night on American Idol, where the Top 7 finalists get to pick songs for their competitors, and each singer gets to choose one of six options. Did anyone go the sabotage route, or was everyone altruistic?

The show finally finds something for Randy Jackson to do, as he introduces the theme of the night and interviews each singer about what they would select for their counterparts. (Everyone seems to be playing nice, for the record.)

American Idol's Malaya Watson Explains Why She Almost Didn't Audition

Malaya Watson

At age 16, Malaya Watson is American Idol's second youngest finalist of all time (behind Lauren Alaina). And the Season 13 contestant — who made it to the Top 8 before being eliminated last Thursday — says she strongly considered waiting a couple of years to audition.

"My mom called me and she's like, 'Oh, American Idol's coming,'" Watson, who was 15 when she initially auditioned, tells TVGuide.com. "I was telling her, I want to wait until I'm 17 or 18 rather than jump out and do something like this. But I thought about it, and you never know when this opportunity's going to come again, so you might as well take it and run with it. I didn't imagine to make it this far."

American Idol Results: Will Sam Stay Another Week?

Sam Woolf

The judges may have used their save on Sam last week, but this week, one person actually did go home. Was Sam able to redeem himself with his take on "Time After Time"? Or were his efforts to connect with his fans all for naught? read more

American Idol: Livin' in the '80s

CJ Harris

American Idol went back to the '80s Wednesday night, with the Top 8 finalists performing song selections from music's most fluorescent decade — despite the fact that none of the contestants were alive in the 1980s. (Think about that for a second. Feel old yet?) They get help from a nearly unrecognizable David Cook, who returns to the Idol stage this week to act as a mentor.

We get our first elimination of the night fairly early, when judge Keith Urban opts to ditch his bitchin' mullet ("sixty thousand dollars' worth of hair extensions," quips his co-panelist Harry Connick, Jr.) within the first five minutes of the show.

With the judges having used their only save on Sam Woolf last week, someone will definitely be going home on Thursday night. So, how did the Top 8 do? Let's get to the performances: read more

Idol's Majesty Rose: "I Think My Performance Was Save-Worthy"

Majesty Rose

In recent weeks, the American Idol judges told contestant Majesty Rose that they felt she was right on the cusp of a breakout performance. Unfortunately, viewers won't find out if that was the case, as the judges neglected to use their save on Majesty after she received the least votes on last Thursday's spisode. But there's no hard feelings from the 22-year-old.

"I think my performance was save-worthy," Majesty tells TVGuide.com. "But I know it's a tough decision for them to make, because there's so many great contestants. I can't say that I deserved it more than anyone else, because we all worked really hard to get where we are."

Premise: The smash reality series showcases wannabe pop stars competing for a record deal by crooning for a panel of judges, including, most entertainingly, the acid-tongued Simon Cowell, who departed the show in 2010 after serving for nine seasons. The judges review a performer's talent (or lack thereof), and at-home viewers then vote for their favorite potential star. The show helped launch the careers of such artists as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert.
