Even though I am no longer on vacation and the Peanut Gallery is sitting some 3,500 miles away, she has somehow managed to put her two cents in. She even got to watch the show three hours earlier than I did. Peanut Gallery: One hour tonight, thank god! Will Sanjaya finally go home? (One can only hope.) Is Phil wearing a lampshade? Last week was the dedication show, this week we might be surprised to find out a little something about each contestant - or not, depending on your level of interest. PG: Blake loves holidays, especially Halloween. Who was that scary guy? Why, PG, that was Johnny Walker Blue. Blake'd better not leave his day job for a life on the road of comedy. PG: His song has a weird feel to it, until he gets into it. I didn't recognize it (neither did the judges). Ahh, the band is 311 (and I believe my husband actually has a CD of theirs - go figure)! I thought the skull T-shirt was odd - maybe it's a punk thing. But I loved his performance, it was one of the best of the night. You'll see what I mean. PSP: Sanjaya hulas. Need I say more? I for one don't ever want to see him shake his "booty, Hawaiian-style." He's looking more and more like Antonella - oh, don't even get me started. First she comes off as superior and then we get to see her arse-naked on the Web, and then the crazies decide to protest AI on the streets of Hollywood. What next? Oh, sorry, was Sanjaya singing that whole time? I completely missed it. The judges feel he hasn't returned to form. Ryan makes a funny - one of the two has extensions - which is one of the first easy moments in the entirety of Season 6. Ryan makes everyone laugh. PG: Paula almost fell off her chair. PG: Sundance is apparently thin in real life. PSP: I believe he is singing a Pearl Jam song, and I wish he would not. He's all over the place, and not in a good way. PSP: Chris singing this ballad (Keith Urban) makes me think of High School Musical when the high-school football star really wanted to sing and dance. Not my favorite J.T.-Alike performance, but of course it was still good, because I love him and that's all that really matters. PG: Chris R., a football star, is so cute! I'm sold. I love this boy. He's showing all his sides. Not a fabulous performance, but up there! PSP: Randy can't think of anything else to say so he recycles last week's, "He's in it to win it." Simon stays planted in his chair. PSP: What in god's green acres is Jared wearing? He sounds fantastic singing Stevie, but the argyles are so against any fashion sense that I am too distracted to completely enjoy this. Too bad, because it is his best performance yet. He's a nice guy. PG: Brandon is a backup singer and a pianist, what else is there? PSP: (He's actually a "classical" piano player.) He sings "I Just Want to Celebrate" by Rare Earth. That's OK, I've never heard that song, either. Paula liked it. Simon is nervous for him after that song. PG: Phil - not always bald? Is that a LeAnn Rimes song? It was a bad choice - he sounded like he was trying to force all of the air out of his lungs, kind of like a dying fish (with a lampshade on his head). Aargh! PSP: Phil is a little self-promoting in a hair-tonic-salesman kind of way. I think I made a pun (since he's bald). I agree with the Peanut Gallery about his performance and want to add how he missed several of the notes and replaced them with very wrong ones. PG: Last one... Chris Sligh, please have something good! Yes! Follow your talent - use what you know. PSP: Sligh man. Tonight I think he has the best performance of all the boys, which isn't saying much. But Sligh is always good. PG: Overall, this night was (nearly) a complete bore. The guys were lame. My standouts were Blake and Chris squared. Going home: Sanjaya (please) and Jared, or maybe Phil. PSP: I agree again with PG on the keepers, but would vote for Sanjaya and Phil to hear, "You're fired!" Carrie Underwood is here on Thursday. Looking forward to hearing her sing something other than "Jesus Take the Wheel." Did anyone notice that Ryan's name precedes the judges in the end credits? Just pointing that out. I want to marry J.T.-Alike - is that wrong? show less

Premise: The smash reality series showcases wannabe pop stars competing for a record deal by crooning for a panel of judges, including, most entertainingly, the acid-tongued Simon Cowell, who departed the show in 2010 after serving for nine seasons. The judges review a performer's talent (or lack thereof), and at-home viewers then vote for their favorite potential star. The show helped launch the careers of such artists as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert.
